Yes I listened to the first few books with my sister when we were younger and they are okay but we didn't really get into the series.

So people are having to read the books in school? They are fun stories but the deeper meaning seems a bit forced to me.

Agree. She tried too hard. Our teacher LOVED it though, compared it to The family feud in Romeo and Juliet, how clans stick together, and West Side Story. I think she had a few points, but I still didn’t like the book.
