I was hoping I wouldn't have to go on here to bombard y'all with another crush/dating/whatchamaycallit issue but my best friend's word of wisdom was "Maybe he got in a bad car accident with excessive brain damage and doesn't remember his zodiac sign"
So I'm here.
So I have a crush on this guy at work. I didn't at first but he's kind of grown on me and we actually have a bit in common.
On our first day of orientation, we went around the room introducing ourselves. I said my name was Madison and I'm a Virgo. He said his name and he was a Virgo too. This seems fairly innocent. Our first day of training, we had to do a human scavenger hunt where once again, our zodiac signs were involved and we had to find one who had the same one as us. He went up to me and was like "Hey, you're a Virgo right?" and I was like "Yeah I'm a Virgo. You're a Virgo too right?" and we laughed it off.
A few days later, our manager barged in to our class with a birthday hat and said "Someone in this classroom has a birthday, Happy Birthday (insert crushes name)" and that was when I realized he was a Taurus. This kid went out of his way to not even tell anyone that it was his birthday and he looked so embarrassed. Of course, it took me a week and a few days to realize why this kid was so mortified because I suck at paying attention to details.
Okay. So I just want the perspective of others on this. Do y'all think this guy literally lied about his zodiac sign to impress me?

Why which zodiac sign he is matter?
Maybe he just didn't know what zodiac signs were at the time and just said that because he liked you at the time, but didn't really know what it was. I don't understand why someone would lie about when is birthday is just to get someone they like. The birth year I understand why, but the date no.

It doesn't matter to me, personally. I didn't even pick up on it until a week after this all happened. I could care less what zodiac sign he is. I just thought it was odd that he said he was my zodiac sign so I was curious if him doing that meant something. But I agree, the idea that he would lie about his birthdate with the intention to impress me is weird.

Melodic I doubt anyone would be "impressed" if someone had the same zodiac sign as them; I think he saw an opportunity at having common ground with you and took it. Obviously if you got to know each other better and that birthday hat incident wouldn't have happened, you would find out his birthday eventually. It was bound to end badly and just sounds like it was done on an impulse without any thinking ahead on his part.

Impressed no, but trying to find a common interest....yes....but lying about it...idk, if he lies at the very beginning.....honesty is everything to me. Once someone lies to me I tend to never trust that person again. It’s not a choice, it sounds just how I feel....

Okay so I looked up the signs and found out that they aren’t even close to each other so it couldn’t have been a mix up! But I think he might of actually have done it because he likes you, that’s probably why he was embarrassed, not just cause he lied.

There's so many reasons he could have said it. He might not have known it - I don't know mine. It's a talking point, it's just easier to answer that way etc

Maybe give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't know. I heard they changed recently, at least according to one site? I know I am/used to be a cancer, but it means absolutely nothing. I wouldn't let that be the reason the relationship goes downhill.

I would think it was kinda sweet tbh...like others have said he was probably just trying to have something in common and got caught out. It wouldnt put me off, I would just think it was kinda goofy

Yeah, that's what I meant. I felt he was trying to find something in common with me even though it was something dumb such as a zodiac sign. But thanks for the advice! :)

I'm kind of torn on this because I'm taking it as more dumb & sweet than anything but at first I was fairly annoyed when I realized he lied.

Yeah. His birthday is in May and mine is in September. It makes no sense to mix the two up.

I mean I agree that some people don't know their zodiac sign but a large percent do. This entire situation has so many "what ifs" though from what I'm starting to realize

Yeah I mean I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt regardless because this was literally our first conversation and if he was making it up to have common ground then he could've just been nervous. We all say dumb things when we're nervous.

This is basicially my mindset on it too but I can see both perspectives on the situation.

Zodiac signs are just one of those things that some people use as an ice breaker. Like, "Oh we're both virgos, that's cool" - when in reality...people who take the stuff seriously know that people with the same signs often DON'T get along...at least not romantically. So yeah, I think he told you just to kind of impress you, maybe even just make you feel more comfortable about him...but I don't think it's a really big deal.

Not really. I just fully realized that me and him work opposite shifts and the chances of us ever interacting is slim since we work in a call center.
God, women are insane.
I'll take that as a compliment. :)

Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Well if you feel that this guy blatantly lied to you and is untrustworthy then you should stay away. Is it possible he was not into the Zodiac and didn't know his sign? I guess you will have to read the rest of his personality and overall honesty. So if you want to give the guy a chance then I guess that is up to you. If your perceptions of him other than the Zodiac sign thing are good then maybe he is worth an other chance. You have to be the best judge of that.

I think it is kinda dumb he lied, but there is no real need to make a fuss about it.
