i’m going to iceland this summer,
but... i found out that before you enter pools and are allowed to camp in some places, you have to undress and shower nude in public. this may sound really dumb to you, but i’ve never been exposed to being nude in this kind of situation before and i’m really nervous. i’ve never had to shower or change clothes in a locker room or be really anywhere public nude. do you guys have any tips for me?

i don’t want my dad to see me nude, so if i have to change, i think i’m gonna go into the locker room after he’s done or when many people aren’t in there. i’ve already looked into just using a towel to change and showering with a bathing suit, and changing before, but you’re not allowed to :( any tips for self confidence or really anything i’d appreciate thanks

Suck it up. Just stop worrying about it. No one else in the shower room cares if your naked.
Your gonna make yourself sick if you keep thinking about. Just face the wall when you change

You will not be changing in "Public" you will be changing in the locker room. When you go to put on your swim suit just have it ready face your locker, If you want keep your TShirt on then take off your shorts/Uware the T will help hide your front, Then slide on your Suit, then off with the T. A quick run thru the shower and you are off 2 the pool. On way back after being in the pool most go into shower in there suit, take it off and rinse it off, do quick shower to get off the pool chems, then to your locker and dressed.

How old are you?

There may be some looking around in the locker room but its not a big deal. Most guys do look around some to compare how they are doing vs everyone else size, puberty level. That is normal, We all have the same stuff more or less, just don't freak out over it.

Just change do it fast. and enjoy Iceland.

I agree with Cory. You’ll be fine when the time comes.

I can totally understand how uncomfortable you could be being naked in front of others for the first time. I think Alex^^^ gave you some really good tips but I agree with Cory. I am naked often in front of friends and team mates. I shower in locker rooms with my dad and my brothers. After a couple of times, it's the most natural thing in the world.
So you can either do what Alex suggests, or just get used to it and it will be no big deal at all. Especially with your dad.

It depends, if you don't want to get comfortable with changing and showering openly that's fine, but if you do then maybe think about practicing it. Either in school or in a public pool or gym.

It's not that big of a deal. Just be confident in yourself and try not to act nervous and do the cover up thing. You will draw more attention to yourself by fidgeting around trying not to be seen than if you just go ahead and do your thing. I have changed and showered with my dad all my life. That's not a big thing either just do it man.

This isn't really an Iceland thing. It's pretty much a rule at any pool. Bet I'm sure in Iceland nudity is more common and practiced than in prude US lol. So I get why you feel this way. But try to just ignore your fears, cuz think about it dude, should they REALLY be fears???? I get being afraid of heights as a fea cuz falling from heights hurts like hell. But being seen nude can't hurt you. It's an irrational fear. I don't suggest changing under a towell - it just makes people look weird and like there is something to hide. Turning your back is ok - as long as you do everything faced away and don't just turn when you take off your underwear (again don't do weird things that draw attention to you). I mean you COULD go in and change when a time your dad isn't in there and the other men are fewer - but are you really willing to wait and wait and wait for the perfect time and again quite likely draw attention to yourself and have people ask why you are waiting/waiting for your dad to leave. Just do it and do it like it's no big deal cuz it really isn't.

Hey,
it is true. In any icelandic pool you have to change in the open lockerroom, there are usually one for females and one for males. After ypu striped off, you carry your trunks and towel to the showers, store them in a shelve, atke your shower, bodywash is provided.
You have to shower fully nude and there are signs posted (https://i2.wp.com/4wornpassports.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/20131025-140638.jpg) which party you have to wash.
In some pools they even have shower guards who make sure who don't wear anything.

To Icelandic teens this is no big deal. They grow up that way, even 10-14 year olds just shower openly without being shy. For Americans it sounds crazy, but I like it. Be proud of your body. Some are longer some are shorter down there, some have hairs, some don't, some shave - who cares?

Maybe you just want to get sued to it. It is so much easier to handle the lockerrom than in the US oder Canada, cuz noone uses towelling skills or long t-shirts, cuz at least on the showerroom everyone will see everything.
And if yoiu will get boners, don't worry, this is natural too and you will see other teens with a boner too.

By the way: How old are you and what are you going to do in Iceland?

Just try to do it, and likely your dad will not say anything about it.

It's the same in Japan, granted when I went there I was with friends. It was still awkward seeing my friends naked for the first time, but just keep repeating to yourself this, "This is not weird, this is their culture. This is normal in Iceland."

Try not to worry too much - there are probably a lot of people in exactly the same position as you, dreading it just as much. I think just getting on with it would be the best, as being super self-conscious or cautious will probably cause more people to look at you and you'll stand out more I guess.

I used to feel the same as you but in the past year I just found confidence in myself. I don’t really care what people think anymore! I never even used to use a urinal but now I do

I would recommend that you try going to some public pools before your trip. Change and shower naked there a few times. You won't know anyone at those pools so that should relive your stress. They will see you naked but hey you will never see them again.

Then by the time you go to Iceland you should be used to it.

Here at our school we all change and shower naked together every day. Coaches make sure we all take nude showers. Nobody would ever try changing under a towel or shirt. You would get singled out and teased for sure.

I hope that you have a great time.
