In my opinion, body mutilation is wrong. It should not be done on people before they can make their own (educated) decision.

If you're insecure about the appearance of your penis: I much prefer uncut as they look natural. Circumcised penises often have scars and discoloration issues, some of these are not at all pretty.

thats literally all there is to it, you have a right to bodily autonomy. fact of the matter is, if its not a medical procedure, but a cosmetic one like circumcision you should have the choice. are there benefits? perhaps, but its not medically warranted. if left the way we're born, would be be alive and well right now? yes, no doubt about it. that alone means its cosmetic.

I think if you asked this as a simple question the answer you got may depend on where in the world you asked it and on whatever was the norm (fashion) in that place.

That summary was presumably written by someone from the anti-circumcision side of the debate so the fact it reads like a catalogue of quackery may be due to bias on the part of the person who compiled it. Whatever way you read it, though, it is full of claims that now seem quite incredible and yet some of the references are to proper medical journals, not the popular press.

I think we have to bear in mind that a look back at medicine will always find cases where people were mistaken. An obvious example that comes to mind is how long it took surgeons to be convinced that infection was the reason their surgical patients often died - something we now take as established fact and take precautions accordingly.

I think this may also be a caution that there is a human trait to start with the answer and then work back to the facts. When you dress this up as science that then becomes "having a hypothesis" and "using observation to prove or disprove it" and the difficulty is because people are emotionally invested the in their hypothesis, they naturally tend to make the observations that tend to prove it and avoid the ones that disprove it.
