Borderlands 2 the story is really good and it's fun to play with friends some of the missions are hilarious I know it's not free sorry but it's only $15 on amazon I would totally buy it for you If I had money :(

Path of Exile is also good

I would say RuneScape but I don't think of it as cool anymore.

It's a MMO, you CAN play it for free but they keep dropping hints now for you to get membership and keep linking you to the payment page when you least expect it. I wouldn't recommend it, this is more of advice to avoid it XD I've been paying for it for the past 6 years but I've been on other accounts and seen the problem.

The game's campaign is very well done, may be quick but you run into obstacles too. If you're not careful you can be assassinated by major factions.
