So many people seem to dislike it, so I was curious how people feel about being cut? Dislike, like, don't care?

I feel fine about it. Being from the states and circumcised since birth, I couldn't imagine having it any other way.

I was uncircumcised up until about a year ago. I can say that I definitely prefer being cut. Not sure why there is such a large movement to stop circumcising infants. There are many health benefits to circumcision and even the CDC has recommended it.

I understand my parents were trying to do the right thing by letting it be my decision but there are so many potential problems with foreskins. There are a lot of men that have phimosis (tight foreskin).

It is much easier to cut a baby at birth than do it as an adult. It can be extremely expensive, somewhat painful, and there is an extremely high risk of it not healing right.

If I ever have a boy, he is 100% getting circumcised at birth.

I'm circumcised, and I've read a lot of things about guys having problems with their foreskin, like it being too tight, etc., and having to carefully wash it so it doesn't get stinky inside. So, I think being circumcised is EASIER than having a foreskin. But in a way, I wish I still had my foreskin because I think it would make jerking off easier. But that's the only reason I think I'd still want to have my foreskin. I cant imagine masturbating (or sex) could feel any better than it already does, if I still had my foreskin.

Most foreskin problems are fixable via creams, strechimg or at worse - dorsal slit surgary(expanding the foreskin, nit cutting it)
Cutting an infants dick at birth is totally insane. Theres two ways this can go:either he likes it or not. If he does- good for him
If not- theres nothing he can do.
If u have a foreskin and dont like it, then get circumcised.

I think that the fact ut was YOUR decision was substantial.

Thats how I feel. I'm loosely circumcised, so I get almost the best of both world's..sensitivity, and not a lot to keep clean. Also seems like less of a hassle to pee

I used steroid creams and stretched it daily which helped, but was still problematic.

I understand my parents were trying to do the right thing by letting it be my decision but there are so many potential problems with foreskins. There are a lot of men that have phimosis (tight foreskin).

According to https://urology.ucsf.edu/patient-care/children/phimosis "a lot" turns out to be 1%, i.e. for every one boy who has a problem with phimosis, 99 boys have no problem with it and even some of the 1% have the version of phimosis that has no scarring and can be treated with stretching or steroid creams.

Forums where people can ask for help are good, in that help is provided, but they can create the impression that problems are the norm rather than the exception. That doesn't just apply to phimosis but to all kinds of problem.

So if you routinely circumcise all boys because 1 out of every 100 of them will get phimosis, some of the 99% who didn't need it because they would not have gone on to have phimosis won't care but some will care and what are you to tell them? That you cut off a perfectly healthy and function piece of them because, on a minority of other boys, that piece doesn't work properly?

Compare with appendicitis. That also affects a minority of people but for those it does affect it is a medical emergency for which the long-term cure is surgical removal of the appendix. Those who have had it out don't seem to miss it - they make a full recovery and lead normal lives so we could remove everyone's appendix "just in case". But, we don't. Normal medical practice is to treat ailments, not potential ailments unless there is a good reason to do otherwise.

You're right the American Academy of Pediatrics has changed their stance again to be slightly in favour of circumcision but they have been criticised for that both inside and outside America and it doesn't look like the medical profession in other western nations are rushing to join them. All that has happened recently is that some countries have talked about banning it, not because there is anything wrong with being circumcised, but because there is no pressing medical need as to why the decision should not be left to the boy whose penis it is to make when he is old enough to understand.

This last point is the important one. Even though someone who decides to get circumcised as a teen or adult has to get anaesthetised for the op and be patient while it heals, at least he gets to make the choice. Someone who was circumcised against his will cannot completely undo what was done. The remaining skin of the shaft can be stretched but this is only an approximation of what was there before.

You may have a distorted impression of how significant this is. I remember in year 7, when first having showers after PE class, noticing two boys who were circumcised but after the initial surprise I didn't pay it any more attention. I never teased them about and I didn't hear anyone else doing so either. For the most part we were much more interesting in talking about the football or rugby game, i.e. we continued to interact as if nothing were different. It's just like some people have blue eyes and some brown or some people have blond hair and some dark - these are things you notice at first but then you forget about them.

I personally think the number is higher than 1%. I'm not sure how many men would report that they have phimosis when they're an adult. They probably just think that it's suppose to be that way and never see a doctor for it.

I've undergone 2 surgeries to become circumcised as an adult. The second one being a scar revision surgery which costed $7,000 out of pocket. That's on top of the $700 it costed us to get it done the first time. It is much more expensive and a lot more of a pain in the ass to get circumcised as an adult, rather than as a baby. Even now it still doesn't look as good as it would have if it was performed at birth.
