View Full Version : Health benefits to masturbating?

Is it really a healthy thing to masturbate as often as possible? I'm asking as a guy but I guess I'm curious when it comes to females too. Not that I need to be worrying about this now but I hear for guys its healthy for the heart and prostate? Because it seems like often I stop myself from doing it when I guess I would be better off just doing it?? Are there any drawbacks? Other than doing it too much and becoming sore.. Thanks for listening! :)

Masturbation has no benefit for the heart or prostate. It's really just a way to relieve stress and get some sexual satisfaction with an orgasm. But it's perfectly normal and healthy otherwise.

There is no real health benefits to masturbation other than pleasure and stress relief. If you mean in clinical terms yes it's a healthy, normal and natural thing to do. You do get some physical type exercise from it especially having sex but that is about it.

as often as possible? I don't know about that...I'd think trying to do it that much would cut into your personal life perhaps. Just do it when you have some privacy and free time...nothing wrong with that.

There's some debate as to whether or not there's some long-term benefits to keeping your reproductive organs exercised with regard to the prostate and such but they're unsubstantiated as far as I can tell. Mostly it has the mental benefits of relieving stress and pent-up tension.

I think older guys risk cancer with
frequent masturbation in some cases
but for younger guys-Idk. Sometimes
a doctor would massage a prostrate
when there is congestion from a
urinary infection and build up of
seminal fluid.

There aren't really any health benefits to masturbating. It does get rid of stress and it's a good way to get satisfaction from having an orgasm. It's just an overall fun thing to do that doesn't have any risk to it

The rumour about the prostate and a reduced risk of cancer seems to be supported by at least one study which is discussed here: https://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/news/20040406/frequent-ejaculation-prostate Note that is is ejaculation that is claimed to provide the protective effect so intercourse, a blow job or even a wet dream also count but the frequency of 21 times a month that provides the protective effect is roughtly equivalent to once on every two out of three days and who gets blow jobs, sex, or wet dreams that often?
If there is any benefit on cardiovascular health I would imagine it is more from less stress rather that masturbation being a decent workout - I don't think it is, particularly.
But most guys don't need the claim of a medical benefit to start masturbating or to continue to enjoy it. All that is needed is to find yourself horny and rid yourself of any silly ideas that there is anything wrong with it. It doesn't hurt you or anyone else but is completely natural and very good fun.
That doesn't mean you need to switch from not doing it to doing it "as often as possible" though. To start with it is a new thing but most people settle on a frequency that responds adequately to being horny and is enjoyable but still leaves time for homework and friends etc.

I don’t think it has any positive or negative health effects but it sure releases stress and makes me feel good. So if being happy counts as healthy then yeah it’s healthy.

making you happy should be a health benefit

For me it's just fun, feels good and is an excellent way to calm down/relieve stress. For boys I've read that since the prostate is a muscle and is always actively producing more semen, it may have health benefits. I'm not aware of any long term studies, but have read that ejaculation for males keeps things flowing normally and "may" preclude prostate problems later on in life so regular sex/masturbation may be a good thing especially for guys.

There are no direct benefits or risks of masturbation but keeping it to a reasonable rate os also best. There is no suggested number but you CAN harm yourself if you masturbate excessively so a couple times a day at most is likely best.

Don't do it extremely often. If you are male, let your testicles relax to produce more sperm and testosterone before excreting again. But other than that, it's a stress reliever.

IIRC it reduces risk of male reproductive system cancer and prostate hyperplasia

Cant argue with that. I am pretty sure that "feeling good" must be a health benefit. :)

I've heard that for guys frequent masturbation is supposed to reduce the risk of prostate cancers and testicular cancers, because it helps to "keep the pipes clean and the supply fresh" it sounds like it makes sense but idk if it is actually true or not.

I don't know about the "as often as possible" part, but I'd say it's healthy to masturbate "as often as you want to".
It's healthy in that it can relax us without sleeping pills, calm us without anti-anxiety pills, and give us couch potatoes a few minutes of "intense cardio" every day without going to the gym or playing sports.

Some people connote masturbation with the relief of stress. But there are no evident statistics about it.
