Increasing a friendship

So I’ve just been on a school trip and come back everyone had a great time and we all made such good friends from different years now cause we different years it’s gonna be difficult maintaining any kind of relationship with the year belows but I would kinda like to stay close to some of them we have a group chat and stuff but already I seem to be the only person actually using it I’m hoping to join the sports team the trip was centred around so that may help but any advice ?

Maybe you could invite one or two people to hang out and do something like a movie or whatever? It'll probably be easier to stay close on group chat and stuff if you're better friends in person first.
