What do you think parent's views are on tattoos. I really want one but I know my parents would skin me from the inside out upside down left to right.

My parents personally say it's ungodly and stupid. My stepdad even calls my mom's best friend a dirty godless person because she has one small one you can see, and one that really is hidden by clothes mostly.
I don't tend to listen to their opinions. I'm getting tattoos when I turn 18 and have the money.

My parents are both very cool about this stuff; to a fault actually. My brother is covered in tattoos, and I mean covered. The only part of his body that doesn't have tattoos thus far is his face and groin... I hope. He's 20 by the way, but has been getting them for a couple years now. He did his first one personally at fourteen. If I wanted any I have no doubt my mom or dad, maybe both would buy me one for whatever occasion. I don't though, I'm a sentimental person and likely would only get one if I knew I would never regret it. Even then I'm not sure I would, I can keep that stuff in my head. I dunno, I guess I'm just not into them, though when it comes to tattoos and other people I'm completely apathetic. Want them, get them, who gives a fuck? Though that's my thought on a lot of things. I hope it wont become or isn't already a problem, ha-ha.

My dad and his dad have tats, so not expecting any opposition.
Whether am willing to let someone grab hold of my arm and use a tat gun on me is another story.

Alot of parents don't like it, and I understand why because tattoos means changing yourself permanantly out of their controll

Look at it like this as long as you are under the legal age and living in their house you have to obey your parents.
Once you are out on your own theres nothing they can do about it.

I doubt my parents would care. They've never really taken much of an interest in my life.
I'm probably gonna get a triforce tattoo on the back of my hand, and maybe one of Bill Hick's face and a quote of his somewhere on my upper arm. Probably "Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, of anything, ever. Because this is just a ride."
I'd only want to get tattoos that actually mean something. Maybe one animal rights related.

My Dad's covered in tattoos, he really loves them so he allowed me a tattoo as a present for my last birthday.
However, I totally understand that many parents are against it for different reasons.

Hi! I got a tattoo, but my parents were not ok with it. My dad said it's stupid (but what, he did stupid things in his life too) and my mother doesn't want to talk about it.
I really can't understand why some parents are like it. It's not like I'm doing something to harm myself, it's just something to express myself. Btw, I got a mandala tattoo (http://www.tattooneed.com/mandala-tattoo-meaning-cute-designs/) (I love the meaning, it's awesone). What tattoos do you have?

My parents were all for it, we are a tattoo family so there was no way they could say no, they actually paid for the first one for my 16th birthday present. I have two now, and I want a whole lot more.

My mother's not big on it because it goes against Judaism, but neither of my parents have ever blatantly discriminated against someone because of tattoos. That's just my parents, though. I think they'd be okay if I were to discuss getting one with them, should I ever really want to.

Both of my parents have tattoos, so it would be a bit hypocritical of them to get on my case if I decided to get one.

My dad absolutely hates tattoos, but my mom is okay with them, as long as they're small and tasteful. My dad's pretty old school, so I understand why he's against tattoos.

Would not go down well with mine even though my dad has one. He doesn't think they belong on girls...
