Positioning your flaccid penis in your underwear or anything else has no affect on your erection. You were right about the genes. Mine curves up and slightly to the left.

at the beginning of puberty i placed my dick downwards in my boxers and my erection pointed a bit more closer to 90 degrees which is straight out. after got further into puberty i started getting loads of random boners so i started placing it upwards to hide them and now my angle is closer to 180 degrees which is pointing more upwards.
does the way you position affect how u point or is it 100% genes? has anyone else seen this after changing positions and would it get closer to pointing out if i start placing my dick down again & people say more of your length will come out :what:
mine also goes upwards man its cool

Yea my always ends up in the left side of my body no matter how I position it. Its just your dick's natural resting place on your body.

Like the curve of a banana only not straight up but off to the left a bit.

I don't think putting your soft penis in a certain position does anything to its natural shape when it gets hard. Mine is straight and points up more than straight out.

Mine stick straight up maybe 45 degrees from the horizontal. It curves slightly to the right.

I don't think how you position it in your underwear changes how it points.
Mine points kinda straight out but a little bit upwards when I'm hard.
