It would be kind of nice if there was an original poster icon so we don't have to go all the way back on long threads to find out who started it.

This isn't really necessary. Maybe posts by the OP can be highlighted in yellow or something?

I think it'd be a good idea.

It's just nice and easy to see who started the thread.

I think it could potentially be a good idea.

I think it's a fine idea, too. I could also see it being helpful since people are allowed to bump their own threads - it'd make finding out if the thread has to be locked or not a little easier.

Yeah that's nice too, it's also nice if there's a lot of people talking and you get mixed up about wether your talking to a responder or the actually post starter.

I like this idea a lot, is there any way it could be made possible?

I've seen it on other forums that run on Vbulletin

I like this idea, I've seen it on a couple of forums and its just to help identify who the OP is in a topic and it can sometimes help.

Cool two mods like it, how would it get implemented would ImCoolBeans have to like it?

I can actually see this being good for both mods and regular members. Good point.

It isn't necessarily hard to see who the OP is, I mean come on it only takes like a second, but this recommendation isn't necessarily bad and wouldn't object the addition of such a thing.

I do like the idea of an icon underneath the username, or if the username of the OP were highlighted.

I'm not a mod, I was once but not now.

In order to get a suggestion accepted you would need the admins approval. So I guess its a waiting game until one or both of them comment.

Oh right I just saw the mod part not the EX part. Do they look in the suggestions forum often?

Yes, although patience is key because they are usually busy.

Yeah I'd imagine, though I wouldn't mind doing the work.

I've given this a lot of thought over the past few days and honestly, I'm not really sure what the point of this is.

When you go to pick a thread, it shows (http://i.imgur.com/28fNwaW.png) you who created it, and it's not too hard to spot when reading it. You could always ctrl + f (apple + f on macs I think?) the user too.

One concern I do have is how sloppy it would look, especially with having multiple themes. We'd either need an addon that allowed us to have more than one color or something because I'd imagine a color that would work on one theme likely wouldn't work on another. I also think about the number of times an OP replies in some threads and if their name was highlighted every time, it'd look kinda sloppy in my opinion.

I'm not saying this won't happen per say, but I'm not saying it will either. It's just my two cents, but I'll take it back to staff for discussion of course.

As far as the themes go you could make a simple blue banner that with green text say Orignal Poster, what's nice is though when you have extremely long threads that spill over into more than 100 pages or so and the OP leaves, other people fill in for discussion some new people may not know who even started the whole thing. Also some or one of the moderators liked the idea, if that carriers any weight.

I think this is a good idea. I often lose track off who is who. And if i'm in the middle of replying to a post, I would like not to have to lose all that so i can find out who the OP is, if that makes sense

Let me rephrase this though. Taking a look at this image:

http://i.imgur.com/05eM1Xl.png

When you go into any forum you see the OP on the thread. So even if you have a 100 page thread, it'll still show you who started. This is indicated in pink on my screenshot above. In the green, I've indicated the last poster, which is different from the OP in pink. So you'll always know, even if you don't go to the first page of the thread - even if you go to the thread and go right to the last page.

Even if you use the new posts (http://i.imgur.com/cyxQ2J0.png) tab, you still see the pink and green as described above.

This would only help so much though. If the OP hasn't replied in the past 20 posts, you won't see them when you're in the reply, and if you're using quick reply, if they haven't posted on that page, you won't see it either, so it'd really only go so much. You could always paste your response into a word document or something temporarily while you look, or you can open a new tab. Having the name of the OP highlighted won't necessarily help you remember who's who I don't think?

Ok I see that now but it doesn't help much if your in the thread itself. Just a suggestion that's all! :)
