I used to write poetry from time to time. I feel quite rusty but the only way to fix that is to re-attempt poetry. Here is something I came up with recently.

My mind is advanced and my brain is fast,
but my heart is weak.
Surrounded by fiends and strangers on the city streets.
The buildings are tall and the cars go slow.
Red lights and accidents disturb the traffic flow.
One in four million. Is this city too tough for me?
I won't know since I'll get as close to the beach.
And the palm trees give me a feeling
like I am here to stay.
The kids on there cellphones are lost in silicone.
Rich man on the ten is lost in Gold.
The dreamer lost looking at the stars, with love in the water,
He won't get far.
Friendly faces and good handshakes,
we'll help the ones that will help us win the race.
