Man I can't even tell you how upset I am. All I want to do is play my newly purchased season 15 of family guy, and I have to download applications off the internet. And hold on, lets not make this too easy, god forbid I enjoy my Friday night right? None of the applications work. Then I download the last one and it plays the sound but not the video. Then my CD Rom isn't recognizing. I'm so upset right now because I have no idea what I did to deserve this. if anyone has ideas on what the hell I should do to be able to watch a damn DVD let me know please.

VLC media player is good (and free) DVD software. Never had a problem with it.
And of course you can always try using an external DVD player, though in this age of streaming I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have any. Certain game consoles also can work with DVDs, I know the Playstation 2-4 does. I'm not sure if any others do though.

Windows Media Player is something you don't need to install as it comes with Windows, unless you uninstalled it.
Otherwise, VLC media player is good.
