Why do people sleep nude?

I have noticed a lot of people on Puberty101 say that they sleep nude. Just wondering, why? Isn't it cold?

a lot of people just don't want to feel constricted when they sleep. I usually wear underwear (though I will sleep nude sometimes), but I never wear a shirt when sleeping, even the rare places where I might wear basketball shorts or something for that same reason. it is simply more comfortable for them.

It removes the feeling of being cramped, even if I wear baggy clothes to sleep it still bothers me. I usually set the temp in my room so that it won't be cold, and I use blankets.

I like the feeling of it and I am trying to do it more and more but depends on how cold it is at home. In the winter I might wear a tee shirt but no underwear or bottoms. I like not feeling restricted wearing underwear or boxers sleeping.

Plus its kinda like a secret thing that makes me feel good lol

At home we all (mom dad and I) sleep nude and I totally agree with Chloe regarding comfort and your body heat makes it warmer than wearing pyjamas.

i do it because its comfortable and i dont get tangled in my clothing. its actually better for you because your body can better regulate its temperature like its supposed to naturally vs wearing clothing and artificially regulating your temp.

I've slept naked since I was 9. For the life of me, I don't see what the advantage is of wearing anything to bed. If it is for warmth, it makes sense for those who need PJs, etc.

Scientifically speaking (providing you have an appropriately thick and warm outer layer like a duvet) you will actually be warmer if you sleep naked. Your body can much more easily keep one layer of air, between your skin and duvet, warm than if it has to keep many layers, skin to clothes to duvet, separated by clothes. This is why when you are camping and you get cold you should actually remove layers rather put more on.

I once got really bad jock itch when I was like 13-14. Doc said to wear good fitting briefs to keep my balls out of my upper thighs and to wear broad yet short shorts during day (yeah ...the type you can see all the way up to your undies when you sit down.)..

Apart from that she wanted me to have a wash at bedtime (also after I poop) and keep my bed clothes and pants off at night so that my butt and pee area remain dry. It was very embarrasing (I had no locks on the door)....I used to wear a long undershirt to bed with socks..

That is the only reason and only time I slept 'nude'

Also when it's really warm, it makes sleeping a little cooler and I tend to sweat less, because (fun fact) sleeping completely naked is optimal for regulating body temperature

These days it's primarily because I can't sleep with clothes on anymore I find them too constricting, sleeping naked you're cooler and don't get as hot during the summer time.

Even if I didn't live in a naturist family, that thought wouldn't bother me at all.

What do you think would happen if you did get caught by mom or dad? In your room, in your own bed, I can't see where wearing pajamas, or underwear, or nothing at all should make any difference to them. I can understand where some parents might have issues with modesty and make rules about being at least minimally covered when you are in the main parts of the house, but your room is your room.

Growing and changing appearance are natural parts of life. I understand that at certain ages we might be a little hesitant to let others see, but within a family it shouldn't be any issue and I'm sure they aren't going to say anything negative about the fact that your body is changing. If anything, I would expect parents to acknowledge that fact as a good thing. Remember, they went through exactly the same changes that we are going through now when they were our ages.

Why don't you just ask your mom sometime if she would have any problem if you slept in your room with nothing on because you think it might be more comfortable for you. The most she can say is that she'd prefer you didn't, and she might even encourage you to try it for a while.
