I'm pretty sure that at our age, the appearance of our semen will still vary a lot. Sometimes mine seems almost watery and just slightly cloudy, and other times it's so thick it's almost like clumps of white jelly when it first comes out. I don't think it has anything to do with our sperm because most of our semen is made in our prostate. Prolly that big hidden gland is still not fully developed yet. I had never heard that one before. There other anecdotes going round, like for example tight underwear of hot baths reducing your sperm count etc. I have never seem any that claim the effect is either a permenent increase or a permenent decrease so the time to worry about these if when you're older and you're trying for a baby. For now, it's about just enjoying the pleasure so unless you think different coloured cum would make your orgasm and ejaculation feel better then there is no need to give up something else you enjoy just to see if it does change colour.

And I also have my doubts if it will make any difference. The relative development of the different glands that make the components of semen does make a difference as does length of time edging and length of time since previous ejaculation.

You've reached the limit of my knowledge there. I know from experience that it happens and other people have confirmed that.

I also noticed that even cum that is pretty thick when first ejaculated tends to become thinner and less white if you leave it for a while almost like it is "melting". Since discovering this I found that this is supposed to happen and is controlled by enzymes: one that causes it to thicken when first ejaculated and one that causes it to thin out later. I have also seen a paper that suggests this mechism doesn't typically work when we first start to ejaculate but develops some time over the next couple of years.

So, you could speculate that edging has some interaction with this mechanism, either inhibiting the first enzyme or activating the second one too early.

I don't think anyone really know what purpose the thick then thin mechanism serves, though I have read speculation that during sex it may help the cum stay inside her long enough for her vagina to close up again and then it thins out to let the sperm swim more freely. AFAIK, no.

Also, on other forums, I have read posts from post-vasectomy men, i.e. those who no longer have any sperm in their semen, who have reported there being no noticeable change in volume or colour which could not be the case it is was the sperm responsible for the white colour.

So the only way to know for sure that you cum contains sperm is to look at it under a microscope or get someone pregnant and I don't recommend doing the second of those until your ready to be a dad with all that entails. Looking under a microscope is something that a couple of people on here have done and you might be able to find more by searching this forum.

Other than that there is paper by Bablok and Janczewski (see Abstract (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/19329015_Semen_Characteristics_in_Pubertal_Boys_I_Semen_Quality_After_First_Ejac ulation)) that found that when guys very first start to ejaculate there are few, if any sperm, and over the next couple of years both the quantity and quality increase so that by the end of those two years their fertility is the same as an adult.
