What do you think of masturbation and what is its purpose in life to you?
I think it's a natural process that almost everybody has to do in order to stay sane, for lack of a better word.

I think masturbation is a natural normal thing that over 90 % of men and woman do. I have never felt bad or guilty about masturbating. There is a bit about not spilling your seed on the ground in the bible so however you want to interpret that phrase is up to you. But woman can't spill their seed. I think masturbation is as normal as scratching when you get an itch. Not only do humans do it, but it is also done in the animal kingdom, so that tells me that it is a natural thing for us to do.

I'd agree that you can expect no God-given punishment for masturbating but I think the bit about women not being able to "spill their seed" suggests more difference between the sexes here than actually exists.

In both sexes, from puberty onward, our bodies prepare for breeding. In girls the lining of the uterus thickens up and an ovary releases an egg. In boys the testicles produce sperm and they emerge from the epididymis ready to go. And in both sexes, where the preparation happens when the owner of the body doesn't want to breed at that moment, it goes to waste. In a girl the egg dies, the uterus sheds its lining and the cycle repeats. In a boy those sperm die and are replaced with fresh ones. Short of breeding despite the circumstances other than fertility not being ready neither sex can choose to do something to make their reproductive system less wasteful.

The idea that boys are uniquely placed to control this in an illusion. Sure a boy could, in theory, choose whether to ejaculate those sperm and throw them away or whether to wait and see whether they just die inside him or end up being ejaculated in a wet dream, it's not like it makes any material difference. The point is he can't choose to "save them up" for when he might need them in ten years time and in ten years time he will have recently made fresh ones.

So by refraining from masturbation all a boy would do is deprive himself of the wonderful pleasure of orgasm and at the same time cause himself to become frustrated by horniness. It is difficult to see how that could be preferable.

It is awesome and indeed there is nothing wrong with pleasuring yourself.
It is your body and privately you can do with it whatever you like.
But there are some religions and/or cultures that try to burn a "bad image" about it in your mind for no more reason than trying to control you and your doings.

Yeah a lot of guys feel the same way, I think it's a natural biochemical reaction that you grow out of over time. Maybe your brain just sort of recoils after suddenly not being as aroused anymore.
