This is one of my biggest insecurities that I've had for around a year and a half now. Basically, my hips and my pelvis have outgrown my chest and so my torso has a horrible vase sort of shape. I have noticed this on multiple other boys I know and I am 15 years old. I think I have just exited a stage limb lengthening and I have no natural muscle gain yet I am working hard with exercises to increase muscle mass especially on arms and chest. I think I have relatively broad shoulders and my chest is 85cm, but is this just some disproportionate growth? :what::(

Dude boys go through puberty at their own pace and in a different order from each other... And when our hormones start kicking in, it takes a while for everything to even out, it takes years for all this stuff to even out. Some guys, because we get a tiny bit of female hormones at puberty along with a ton of testosterone, some guys even get small boobs for a little while, and its got nothing to do with weighing too much. So yeah, just keep what your doing, exercising, eating good, and everything will work out.

I agree with Chris above. I would
continue with the exercises to gain
muscle mass but don't overdo it. Go
easy.

Guys chests usually get bigger and bulk up around 17. Be patient and keep working out and that should help a lot.

Hormones will change your body in different ways at different rates during puberty. Bottom line, keep doing what you're doing and don't stress too much about it if you can avoid it. You're doing all the right things, you just need to leave it up to your genetics to do the rest as you mature.

Are you growing breasts too? If so, I know what it might be.

Where are you measuring your hips?

I guess you're thinking that wide hips are a girly thing but in a girl the width come from the width of the pelvis whereas the width you actaully measure includes not only the pelvis but the top of the femur (your upper leg bone) and some muscle around that bone so if you have strong legs that may account for it.

Also, as you already know, limbs grow first then your trunk so chest growth would happen with that. Again the size you see or measure is a combination of bone and muscle so whereas you can increase the muscle by training, the bone you just have to wait for it to grow.

How am I supposed to know what I want to say? I forgot the name of that sickness, which causes males to develop female characteristics.

Your body type could be ectomorph where your hips and chest are the same values or the chest is smaller than the hips.

When one is a skinny kid and starts filling out in puberty some do not start in the tummy but in hips..this is what has happened to you.
When I started to put on after being a twig all my childhood, my thigh and butt grew first..It was kinda wiered cos even girls started noticing my newly-rounded-butt and commended....
Then I started to put weight on my torso and starting from my back I gained love handles and a layer of fat on my belly and then my chest (mboob area) too filled out.....
Now at 17 fat has evenly spread on my body and I've grown from my skinny kid body to a chubbier late-teen body....only parts that still look skinny are my arms and neck..They too will fill out as I gain weight....
Likewise in the next few years your body too will fill out and your fat will even out settling mostly in yout tummy and chest ...just like all others.

Boy, oh boy. Why would you just WAIT for the fat to spread? Start working out, f'freak's sake.

The thing is I am definitely in no way developing female characteristics or fat. My hips are like sticking out bones which I suppose my chest hasn't caught up with yet as my hips are still smaller than an average adult man's so I guess it's just puberty being slow as it is  Thanks for the posts anyways

Oh well, then. Glad we could help out.
