While I am bisexual I speak not as a bi man but as a human being and I will tell you why I dislike defenders of traditional marriage!

the reason why I dislike defenders of traditional marriage is quite simple not only are they denying non-straights the right to marry and their fore meddling in our private lives, but they are not really defending traditional marriage and the divorce rate among straights soars, instead they ignore that fact and treat us like we are the cause for traditional marriage falling apart, and that some how if we the non straights have the right to marry somehow straights are going to some how just turn gay!

Agreed.

I think it's irritating that people don't realize the legal position of the marital arrangement.

Ah yes, marriage being god's gift, sure, whatever. That's wrong, because it oppresses anyone with a religion different than yours, but whatever.

But what they don't realize is that marriage is a privilege. Legally. You literally have more rights if you're married to your partner.

You can say that you respect homosexuals/etc. all you want, but don't support their marriage, all you want, but you can't say that you support their rights if you are legally trying to ban their marriage.

LEGAL should be the first obvious thing.

This has nothing to do with religion.

This is a legal matter.

Stop treating it as a matter of religion, and religion only.

I personally will probably never marry a woman, because I plan on marrying my boyfriend, a man, so for the most part these laws do not apply to me. Doesn't mean I shouldn't care about them.

How about petitioning to disband marriage as a legally recognized act if you're so concerned with dishonoring god? Wait, you don't want your rights taken away. Funny that.

When they say it's an institution ordained by God I want to ask which one? which God?

Jehovah?Allah? Odin? Zesus? Buddha? etc

(Props to you for remembering Jehovah, wow)

I know right? Exactly.

I mean, in the event that one religion is right, or that god exists, and only one god (or? I hope this makes some sort of sense) yes, ok. HOWEVER, god would've also had to have created worshippers of every other religion, no? Hmmm.

Besides, it's not like you see Christians saying Hindus shouldn't marry or something- if anything they support it so there's no cohabitation or sexual relations outside of marriage :P

Or at least, I haven't seen that happen.

I think the defenders of marriage will ultimately strangle themselves with their own argument

first off traditional mearriage is not a christian invintion . and the concept of merriage being only one man one women isnt traditional merriage . traditional merriage dates thousands of years before christianity islam and all other main stream faiths what they fail to reconize is if we went off traditional merriage gays would be able to be married women unfortunetly would be bought like property in some areas and multiple wives would be the social norm so the whole i just support traditional merriage argument is stupid at best. but of course most people who use that saying is just using it as a platform for nothing more than hate speech
