Scarred
By David Rodriguez
He posses the power she’s sought,
a power no one would’ve thought.
She becomes so angry,
She can’t reach and her eyes get teary.
The lies they’ve told,
Her temple, she’s sold.
The years, they’re gone.
She’ll sing that song,
of a lonely girl who cannot talk.
The words that come out, not hers.
Her heart aching from the many detours.
Her soul is lost,
He, she’s come across.
Her desires rooted by evil.
Her wrists becoming the aisle.
But again, she sings along.
But this time she’s changed the song.
The roots get thicker.
Her anger getting bigger.
Now, she’s gained back that power.
She raises her hand, a fist.
He becomes scared,
as he stares through the mist.
She looks through the list,
and she sees his name.
This man will always be the same.
But he’s gone.
She’s outside in the rain, alone.
Her heart races,
and back and forth she paces.
She’s scarred in all places.
Her tears fall down making large seas,
The scars, both cuts and memories.
