View Full Version : "An Axolotl to a Business Man"

An axolotl lies in his tank,
Looking like a young, enthusiastic business man.
His smile is bright,
He is energetic,
And he is curious about the world around him.
Yet he is trapped in his tank.
Surrounded by faux fauna,
Various pebbles,
And the crushing weight of overdue tax returns,
And the pressure of a new raise,
And, gosh, Jimmy drank all of the coffee again?
We're out of ink?
The poor guy doesn't stand a chance.
He swims around his minimal tank,
He peers outside his glass walls,
There is nothing for him but swimming around in circles,
Looking happy,
And attracting the eyes of outsiders.
Like a business man.
Stuck in a cubicle.
Breathing in the same air day after day.
He rummages through papers.
He taps on his computer.
He wishes he could be outside of his four plain walls.
Despite this,
He is still happy.
Still works with enthusiasm.
Because an axolotl is like a young business man.
And a young business man is like an axolotl.
And you can just see the little aquatic friend just tapping on a keyboard and filing taxes,
Can't you?
Just imagine them doing taxes.
A silly thing, right?
Yet fitting.
And the axolotl swims on.

I wrote this at some point last year as a school assignment, but I still like it quite a bit so I thought I would share! Also, if you're wondering what the heck an axolotl is, it's one of these little guys!

That is very cute haha. I love Axolotls for their regenerative properties. Hopefully one day we can manipulate it and use it ourselves.
