My dad won't let me have a cell phone or a tablet even though I am 13 my sister just got hers and she just turned 16 (and it is a flip phone f.y.i my grandmother has a better phone)
I was wondering if there were still teens out there who like me aren't allowed to have their own cell phone.
Also do ya'll have computer restrictions (like times you are and are not allowed to use the computer) and do you have a lap top or a desk top
I am like 15 years behind everybody

Some parents are naturally stricter on guidelines in terms of technology for their kids. It’s mostly contributed by “when I was your age I didn’t have a phone”, as well as a fear of the unknown when it comes to the internet - bad stories seem amplified and they don’t want their children to be exposed to it. I remember a girl in my old classes wasn’t allowed any internet access of any kind until the age of around 15 or 16 because the parents weren’t knowledgable of the internet and weren’t sure of what she might be exposed to.

Wow, that sounds terrible and a bit too restrictive! My sister and I both have smartphones and ultrabook laptops for school plus an older laptop we exclusively use for gaming. We had flip phones at 7, so we could call home or for help or something. We just had to promise not to do certain things on the internet meaning we are unrestricted there too.

That does sound a little strict. I had a flip phone when I was 10 (I think?) but didn't get a smartphone until I was 13. They also used to say that I couldn't have my phone in my room, but now I'm older they don't care so much.

I'm also not allowed to have a phone. Since I'm not a terribly social person, and I do have regular access to a computer, it doesn't bother me a whole lot. I mean, yeah, it might be a cool little gadget to play around on, but I don't have anyone I'd call or text on a regular basis, so the computer is fine for now.

since my dad usually isn't home most of the week and my mom works an afternoon/evening shift, we are alone most afternoons after school, so my siblings and i got cell phones "incase of emergency" when my mom started working late shifts. We don't have a landline phone though.
