With the way things are going on in society today and in people's lives, what do you think God is trying to achieve?

I think people put too much emphasis on god's work in our life and expect him, it, everything, (whatever god is) to change things for us. We have free will, use it. I offer this idea to you. Perhaps god is not a seperate entity as many believe, but actually the summation of everything. Everyone, everything, thoughts, emotions, all of it. In this way, god is all powerful because he is all power in the universe, all knowing because he is all knowledge, and all loving because he feels every emotion we feel: love one another, jealousy, hatred... How can such a being actually have a plan or even one definite will for that matter? Everywill in the universe is part of god, and many people have conflicted views and wills, so how can anyone take precedence over the others?

I think that I can offer a very different point of view because I don't believe in free will. I believe that whatever decision that you make, you have been scripted to make. And you make those decisions based on the previous experiences that you have been put through by our creator. Personally, I am a Catholic, but I don't think that it matters whether or not you are religious or follow a different religion. And this is my own belief, not that of my family or friends.

As far as the plan, I think that it is just entertainment. Not entertainment in a sick way, more of a positive experimental hobby. I think that the end is known and has been decided on since the beginning of time, and the only thing that would make sense is that our creator comes back and saves us. At some point we will ruin the earth, possibly through climate change, nuclear war, a plague, or an other disaster.

To be less lonely, to continually fulfill his nature from beginning as it was in the end beyond time and space.

Seriously, I don't think people have heard from Zeus for a long time, so we don't know what his plans are.

God already won, for his own sake.

It is his will that mankind overcomes the Devil, given that mankind was made imperfect after the original sin, and Jesus was required to show the way, a path which was not open before spiritually to mankind.

Everyone has a different understanding of God. My understanding is just my opionions.

God does evrything he possibly can do in whatever way he can possibly do it.
God chooses certain people to rise above. In the natural world, he chooses exceptional creatures to thrive and dominate. God is about greatness. Unfortunately, with this comes collateral damage and lots of it. He started with nothing to make everything. and he is expanding. growing.

There is balance and everything must be balanced.

Everything is the result of something else. Every action has a consequence. Everything leads to the next thing, whatever that thing may be.

It is all about cycles, and processes and repititions. Things than do themselves over and over again. Sometimes the exact same motions repeated continuously to reach perfection. Other situations are repeated in like fashion but not identical for they are different situations yet the nature is similar and thus the situation is nearly repeated, just differently.

Natural selection is how God has smashed creating life on this planet through evolution. He has made it more and more complex because he can. It has been made more complex just so that it can become even more complex. This opens up more and more possibilites.

with humans, exceptional people are chosen to smash it. Obstacles are placed to limit many. Drug addiction for example. People make the drugs to profit and sell them for profit. The addicts/consumers are taken out of the game of life since their choices have destroyed them. People get drinking problems. People can be dysfunctional or super functional. Driven people are like machines that God uses to advance the world. As with the natural world, it is competion. Adaptation.

The environment, God's playing grounds, have evolved to what they are now. The earth was like lava rock at one point yet it changed. By becoming changeable, it will now always be changeable. Those who cannot move with the change (or fail to adapt) are left behind.

Everything will eventually cancel itself out. For every positive there is a negative. This goes back to balance. there is as much good as there is bad. Time will run its course and that will be that.

It is all just extremely advanced chemistry expressing itself and beyond that it is all just the energy flowing.

Who are the good guys and who are the bad guys?
In my opinion the world is ruled by conflicting ideas of how the world work. God has nothing to do with it.

“Long ago, before the earth on which we now dwell came into existence, God our Father … established a plan. … [That] plan provided the perfect way for all of God’s children to receive immortality and gain eternal life” (“Life--the Gift Each Is Given,” Ensign, Dec. 1998, 15–16).

That's a great view. I happen to disagree with all of it but I salute your rationale

Perhaps it wasn't his intention but religion is one of the most dividing things on this earth, if you look at most conflicts and wars, religion is a common theme within most of them along with money and power.

“My life is a gift; my life has a plan. My life has a purpose; in heav’n it began.
My choice was to come to this lovely home on earth And seek for God’s light to direct me from birth. I will follow God’s plan for me, Holding fast to his word and his love. I will work, and I will pray; I will always walk in his way. Then I will be happy on earth And in my home above.”

I don't think there is a plan, since I actually don't think there is a god.

But if I were to consider the christian deity as described in the Bible to exist, I'd still think it has no plan. That deity is self-contradicting and changing mood too often to be explainable by a 'plan' of any kind. At best, that guy is playing "The Sims: Humanity" with us. Us being part of God's leisure hobby wouldn't feel out of place to me.

God is a man-made concept, so any plan that he might have, if you choose to believe in god, comes from your own brain.
Which makes life infinitely more exciting and full of opportunities, because you can choose to do anything you want, instead of being a slave to someone else's whims.
Thinking free will does not exist is the perfect way to not take responsibility for your actions: "God made me do it!". What a sad and pathetic thought.

God = What you think ultimately created the universe and may, or may not, control our fate.

Why would he do that ?

first its assume god is a being, and is a man. imho, that is a limited perspective.

but to answer the question, my guess it happens (or allowed to happen) because things are out of balance. :)
