thought this would be a pretty interesting one to find out what people think
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-26492748
basically a Malaysian airways plane has disappeared just before it made Chinese air space
thoughts go out to the families of those involved
the bbc have put up a new more informative page
not too sure about the other news providers in other countries but they seem to be the best British one

I just found out about this a few minutes ago! I really hope the people get found. My co workers in the charity shop are now convinced I'm going to disappear when I fly to China -_-

I think we need to be more serious...
There is a potential that over 200 people are dead, and nothing to explain why at this time

Really sad story. Hard to think that a plane carrying so many people can just dissapear and be so hard to find. One of those tragic events that sadly happens.

I'm sorry but I feel I can't let this pass without saying anything.Plane goes missing from radars and radios, no emergency squawk, no signs of any kind. 2 potential hijackers, which stole 2 passports of passengers which never ended up boarding the flight. Fuel/oil spill found.
This leaves me 2 possible endings:
1. Some kind of failure or hijack which made the plane splash into the ocean (See Air France Flight 447) or
2. Fuel being Jettisoned out of the aircraft for an early emergency landing/ditching. Either caused by a real emergency or by hijackers.
So they may have ditched it in the middle of nowhere, or they may have crashed.
Prayers go to those in the flight

As above, it could be a crash by 'natural' fault, or someone was behind it

the one thing that really unnerves me about this is not only the disaster but where it was located. we don't need more political drama over terrorism

UPDATE
Vietnamese Search and Rescue team has found a trail of chemical substance strongly suspected as oil--leading to the assumption of it being the plane's fuel--in the ocean between Malaysian and Vietnamese waters. A Chinese speed boat has been sent to follow the 20 kilometers long trail. The boat is expected to reach the end of the trail and report back today.

This is bad. A plane doesn't just disappear like that, and I have a feeling terrorism is involved. My heart goes out to the families involved in this tragedy.
