I was told by someone today that I must be gay or bi since I have an emo appearance. I mean yes I have black hair with orange streaks and I have the whole emo attire but why so focused on my sexuality. Can people pick up on it.

I didn't known that the whole Emo stuff is still a thing. I haven't seem people with that kind of look for years. I thought it was a 2000s phenomenon.
And I never heard that this had a connection to sexuality. People referred to the whole Emo stuff as "gay" sometimes but not in the sexual meaning of this word but as a word to call them stupid or so.

So yeah never heard that there is a connection. So dunno why people would say that to you.

But 16 I started to gain weight....my 'emo' face got filled out, then I cut my hair shorter to match my rounder face.....voila....and I'm emo no more...
Now at 17, skinny fat to chubby with a round face nobody will think that I used to look 'emo'

So its just a passing phase in your appearence..thats all

Yeah maybe, just never hear it around here. Nobody would call kids with colored hair emos or gay. I am gay an nobody ever told me that I " look gay" or anything.

So I would say would say they maybe just wanted to tease you.

I'm almost 17 and still "emo", and I mean, got my actual playlist full of MCR, Panic! at the disco, Green Day, Blink-182, paramore, etc.
I am Bi, and yeah some people have told me that being emo = being gay more than one time, but I know many guys who were "emo" and they're straight, it was just a phase
There is a tendency of why most emo guys have gay tendencies (as far as I know), but that's another topic

Wait till puberty hits and your metabolism slows down...You will fill out and will be sporting a tummy in no time....Then your emo look will go out of the window.

I don't know what it matters and why anyone's sexuality is anyone else's business.

I think part of the problem is too many people are using their sexual orientation as an identity and throwing it out to the public. It's your business what your sexuality is, not anyone else's.

It is wrong for someone to comment on your sexual orientation. It was inappropriate and none of that person's business. And I think a form of bullying.

The reality is that only you know what your sexual orientation is and you know because of which sex you are attracted to. Not because of the way you dress or do your hair.
