View Full Version : Question about changing in the locker room for practice

I am on my school swim team. During practice and when we go to meets, everyone changes in one large room. However no one just changes, everyone does the towel wrapped around you method. I’m comfortable enough to just change and I find wrapping a towel around myself to just get in the way. What should I do?

I would just change without the towel. I'm willing to bet that there are other guys that feel the way you do but are afraid to be the first one to just go naked. If you do it once, many more people will join you the next time. If anyone questions what you are doing just say, "I'm sorry that it bothers you that I am comfortable with my body."

I agree. Just do what you're comfortable with.
I just change normally in front of others. I feel no need to flaunt it, but also no need to hide it.

If ur comfortable I would change without it, and some people will do it without the towel also but since no one else will they don’t. Eventually you could prolly have everyone changing without the towel

I agree with what everyone has said. If you don't want to use the towel, don't. No one uses the towel in our locker rooms. After a while, it just feels natural to be naked. And I think once you stop using it, others will follow.

I’m on my school’s swim team too. I say don’t worry about it. When we are in the locker room, everyone just changes and doesn’t really pay any attention to anyone else. I mean as guys we all have the same parts anyway. I’m more focused on doing well at practice or swim and dive meets than I am about other guys and them getting changed.

Does everyone shower after practice with their trunks on? I'm not on swim team, but I've seen them and they all shower and change by just being naked. In my school it seems all the guys on sports teams have no problem stripping down and showering naked and dressing, but the guys not into sports seem to cover up like this a lot.

Youre in there to shower and change, so do what is comfortable for you and don't pay any mind to what the others are doing. Just do what ya gotta do and get out.

I think you should do what is most comfortable for you and change without the towel. How do the other team members deal with showering then?

Do what you want. i have been in situations where I knew that if I tried to change the culture I would just get laughed at so I didn't and I have also recently been able to basically help change the culture at my school. Much less people change under towels now. Open nudity in the locker rooms is now accepted as not weird or gay. But do what makes sense to you. Probably not a huge thing either way.

On my swim most guys stay covered for 95% of their time in the locker room (wrapped in a towel, or suit still on, for example) but usually guys drop the towel quickly to put on their underwear. So no one is going around butt-naked for the whole time but you do see each other naked every so often.
I agree, its complicated to try and pull up your boxers with a towel wrapped around you, that's probably why most guys on my team do it they way they do.
If no one else on your team ever gets totally naked at all I could see why it might be weird for you do to it. But, ultimately, it comes down to what you are comfortable with. If you are worried about being being seen as weird or gay for changing without a towel maybe have your towel fall off one day "by accident" and see what the reaction from others is. Maybe it wouldn't be a big deal.

Do whatever you feel most comfortable with it's not like they haven't seen penises and pubes b4

I would just change real quick. it is an inconvenience to try to change under the towel. easier for me to say because we did shower after pe and sports and stuff at my school and you see everything anyways.it is not like your parading around nude though, it is to change. shouldn't be a big deal.

just change and don't do the towel rap. If you're brave enough to do it, then you'll probably start a trend with the other guys on your team.

That's what I was going to ask. Aren't they naked in the shower anyway?
Aren't speedos pretty revealing also? Don't you already see pretty much what they have already through the speedo?

No one ever gets naked where I go swimming. Its towel round or changing cubicle method and no one gets naked in showers and everyone uses shorts not speedo kind 👍

Do you like it this way or just go along with it? I used to go to a middle school where we all showered with our shorts. It always felt weird to me. But I went along with it. Glad I'm not there still. The worst part was that the shorts never ever dryer out. The locker room smelled so bad with mildew and stuff.

Interesting, I also change for PE or swimming at school and no one uses a towel to hide.
We shower naked every time though, so you can't really hide anyway.
Just go for it and see how you like it.

If you're not embarrassed to be seen then you don't need to cover up. The locker rooms is somewhere it is socially acceptable to be naked so others can't really complain. No point in inconveniencing yourself just to be like others.

Personally I don’t know, because for PE most guys don’t change their underwear and if someone does they usually don’t hide it, but don’t show it off either.
BUT I have noticed that a guy who professionally swims does put a towel around his waist, is it a swimmers thing?

Just change without it. All of you guys have dicks. Nothing to worry about.

He’s probably worried about being in a speedo. His package might be too revealing in them.

You are just more confident and comfortable with your penis and body. I would do what's right in your head and I'm sure people won't mind since it's a locker room.

Don’t worry about it. If you are comfortable with your body who cares. People are supposed to be naked and get changed in a locker room. Not rap a towel around themselves and look silly. If anybody says any thing ignore them. Good luck! -Jackson

Gosh no body would change under towels here. Would get teased so bad if ya didn't change in open and we all shower naked together anyways.

If you wanna shake the towel go for it and good for you for being comfortable enough to do it. You might not be the only one that wants to but no one wants to be the first and only one to do a specific thing most of the time

I am in the swim team and the water polo team at my school and we always shower naked. Some younger boys look slightly uncomfortable at first but you don't want to be the odd one out wearing something.

Just go without the towel. If you’re are comfortable, no one can stop you. You are all boys, and y’all have a penis and balls.

Just get naked and change. Don't do the towel thing. You might be suprised after you do it for a while how many guys start to do the same. On my swim team it was like that until two guys just kept being naked and then everyone followed over time. No one wanted to be first. Now it hard to get guys to not be naked in the lockerroom lol.

At my school all the guys change on the pool deck so everyone has to towel change. Every once in a while you'll get flashed a little bit but nobody really cares. Id say go for it if you're comfortable
