How comfortable are you guys nude around your friends, and vice versa?
I'm a 19 year old guy from the UK and I went to quite an international school with people from all over the world. We sometimes had to shower after sports and being in a group of mainly British friends, I go to strip off completely and got really weird looks and people telling me to put it away. Yet when I change with groups of people from elsewhere, often American, Asian or African, they all strip of completely and it's not big deal at all (heck, I even had an American friend over the other night and we just chilled naked whilst watching TV, I guess that's a story for another time though!).
I was just wondering if anyone else was in the same situation and noticed a sort of change in habits depending on where you're from...

Attending a secondary school as a working class person, I can completely agree.
I guess it just could be culture or something

Yeah I get what you mean. My school is quite posh but the whole stigma of boarding school being all quite gay and whatever is not true.
Equally though, like yourself, I originally came from more of a working-class background and none of my friends are comfortable even talking about that stuff either. I think it's just a British thing...

very comfortable. I had to shower nude for sports and pe/gym classes so I got used to it pretty early on and was very comfortable about my body anyways. I know a lot of people don't care, but a lot of people do and it is not always just because they don't like their body, for some it is just uncomfortable. never had that problem though

This is my point. I think it is just a British thing to be a bit more uncomfortable with it.
A lot of them wear briefs and whatever and strip down to those, but then its a towel on to take off their underwear. Most showers here are cubicles rather than communal, so some people even take their clothes to the cubicle.
I was wondering if other people in the UK experienced this, and what it was like compared to other countries

Yeah, I feel like in America people are a lot more comfortable with nudity including me. One of my friends used to live in London and said back there people were kinda like weirded out by dicks, he was also one of the only circumcised people there. My friends and I are quite comfortable naked, but I feel like as people are getting older, more of my friends are kinda shying away from complete nudity.

I have always been comfortable around others naked. I grew up skinny dipping all the time with both guys and girls. Sports and PE we always showered nude too. Also at changing rooms and showers at the pool or beach. I am proud of my body. I am just an average looking guy and I am very happy with that.

I guess then follow what they do in and out
of the showers if u don't want them to look at
you in a weird way. U can b a rebel and just strip
and forget what they say or do. I have no probs
with friends being naked together. I would say that
if at first I had to strip in front of strangers then I guess
I would b conscious of how they would take it.

I'm American and find it just depends. I've been to 5 schools since 5th grade and each school showered differently. One didn't. One showered everyone wearing shorts. I pretty much always went with the flow. Till I got to my current school which was like some of us will shower naked, a few with shorts, but most of us won't shower. I have pretty much single handedly helped it get to where we all shower naked. But it's still every much that each team is seperate. Football players will shower naked but thinks us cross country runners are inane (or gay) how much we like to shower naked and walk around the locker room naked. In the winter we are all naked cuz my I've gotten my basketball team that way and wrestlers always love being naked. Spring is hit and miss with baseball and soccer and track. Some do and some don't.

When am in the locker room after swimming my friends and I are naked for a bit as we change. We don't hang out naked unnecessarily but it also isn't a big deal to us if we happen to see each other naked while getting changed.

Yeah I definitely agree about the different sports. I am quite sporty, so like the rugby team was fairly naked, even 1 or 2 Brits in the team. Cricket was a bit more hit and miss as most of us had had a few drinks by the end of games so would sometimes end up naked showering but football, literally no British would get naked at all, wouldn't show anything at all. Obviously, just the different cultures based on sport and nationality.

I agree somewhat with different sports. Football
players and wrestlers all walk around naked in and
out of the showers and lockers. The way I c it is that
football players r into themselves and wrestlers r into
each other. I play baseball and soccer and the only times
some of us r completely naked is when we either shower
or change and its no big deal.

I’m American and for me it’s depended on the environment I’m in. For example I went to a small private high school and people were kind of weird about changing totally, but now in college nobody seems to care. I do think it’s definitely cultural though

I've been naked around friends, sex depending. I obviously wouldn't casually undress in front of a female, but as for guys, meh. I never actually undressed completely in a locker room though, being that i'm not much of a sports guy. I can definitely say though that it is a cultural thing, and some don't care whereas others do.

Its pretty common amongst us, especially when we're all showering after a practice or gym

I go to an all boys private school and it's normal for everybody to shower after practice or games and pe. If guys are uncomfortable with it, you wouldn't know since everybody undresses and showers.

Maybe its a culture thing in Britain. Over here we all change and shower naked together in locker room and showers. Sports and p.e class.
Kids that try and change under towels or skip showers get teased. Well coaches make sure we all take showers anyway.

While I agree that culture has an effect I find that Canada, USA, and the UK stand the same on this one just depending on the person. I personally am not comfortable with it.

It's certainly not that way in the South; the combination of homophobia and the pervasiveness of Christianity is strong enough here that even the most open-minded people are reluctant to strip down in front of other guys. I don't care myself, but I've lived my entire life without having seen a naked guy who wasn't related to me.

I have heard the South is very religious and very homophobic. But I also have heard that the south is full of athletes especially football players and males that don't really give af. Therefore I always imagined southern boys showering no problem. But doing it in a manly way.

I've heard that British were actually very shy and reserved and didn't like to get naked. I guess it all depends on where in Britain and who the teachers are and a lot of stuff.

Never been fully naked with other guys. The least amount of clothes I’ve had on with them would probably be underwear

It's certainly possible; I tend not to be around the football crowd, so I'm not entirely sure what they do. They do tend to be some of the most homophobic in my experience, so I dunno. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if they did it specifically to prove that they can see other guys naked without getting an erection...

I'm also in an International school, and no one has a problem with getting naked.
Some friends from Germany don't shower at school and are therefore pretty she with nudity.

It's a geographical thing. I have UK friends who think showering together naked is weird. I have other UK friends that think it's no problem. Most of my friends here in U.S. just don't care if we're all showering naked, changing together, hanging out in boxers or being around each other naked. I know dudes from other countries too and they don't care about being naked with other guys.

That's weird. From what I've heard, Americans in general are more uptight about nudity than Britians, especially in TV shows and movies. I have a few friends (who are American) who don't care if people see them naked, but most of them are conservative to different levels about nudity, but generally don't like being seen naked.

I guess it depends on the sports, your experiences prior and how comfortable other people are. Some of friends aren't comfortable being nude, even when changing whereas some are. Personally I am

In situations where being naked around my friends is appropriate I have no problem at all with it. I'm not embarrassed and I don't try to "cover up".

There are showers in my school and you would notice two types of people. One,the people who hold their junk in their hand while showering and two,the people who let everything hang and don't care who sees usually these are the more developed ones though. The people who don't cover up also walk around the changing room freely if they're getting clothes. There isn't bullying but there can be teasing so I imagine that stigma stays when you get older.

I don't really have too many international Friends, but my Friends (which are all from the same country) don't really get naked in front of each other. They get uncomfortable. They are all latin (I live in Chile) and they have this stupid old-fashioned way of thinking and they would feel gay or whatever. Anyway, I can tell they are curious and look at eachother whenever they can, they just dont admit it.
For me, I'm not really comfortable in showing my body

Personally I am not because I like to keep covered up. I don't think you can necessarily put a generalization like Americans are comfortable with it or something because some are fine and some aren't. It's more of the environment people are in and personal reasons and such
