Traditions for the holidays

Wondering what traditions you guys do if you’re going to be celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa this year.

This year we’re gonna be celebrating Hanukkah, which we almost never do, and later on gonna get a tree for Christmas. My dad said he’s gonna be making latkes and get a new menorah, so it’s gonna be fun. Play a lot of card games n all. On Christmas, we usually make seafood for dinner and panettone for breakfast.

Christmas, like always.

I have some Jewish relatives that do both Christmas and Hanukkah. They seem to do what you are doing. They have a menorah that they light, and they follow the regular Hanukkah traditions, but they also decorate for Christmas (tree included), and have a little Christmas day party with gift-giving.

We all go to my parents house on Christmas Eve and we watch the Hawaii Bowl while the ones who wants to go to church, go to church. After we have a buffet at home and we all get really drunk and exchange gifts.

Glad it’s not a me only thing... thought it would seem weird if I was celebrating both haha but I guess not

That's how Christmas was intended to be celebrated before it was overtaken by Christianity. Got to say its a lot more fun now that all the kids in the family are grown up and old enough to drink.

I'd normally light Hanukkah candles and say prayers with my parents every night, but I won't be home for 7/8 nights, so my mom gave me an LED menorah that I can use to honor the holiday on my own.

Usually spend Christmas eve with my mom's side of the family and Christmas day with my dads. (My parents are still together; I'm referring to grandparents and extended family.)

Always have a real Christmas tree.

My parents host a big Christmas party the weekend before Christmas. This year it's on Fri the 22nd. Then we do Xmas Eve at my aunt's house and Christmas day at mine

We are a family with Christian backgrounds. I wouldn't say we're Christian ourselves, but we do celebrate Christmas. However, we celebrate family. We don't necessarily celebrate the birth of Jesus. We have a Christmas tree and other decorations.

Fun fact: in the Netherlands we have TWO Christmas Days. The 25th and the 26th. I think in the UK the 26th is called Boxing Day; it's similar to that. But we actually call it "Second Christmas Day".
Married people often use it to visit one person's parents on one day and the inlaws on the second.
And others have a big Christmas feast (with food and games all day) on day one, and being a couch potato on the second because they ate too much :P

A rather casual Christmas this year, we don't have anything much in the way of tradition other than the usual lit up tree and decorated yard. Main family is half-catholic half non-denom, so we're halfolic (Get it?), and due to that we've pretty much lost the traditions of both with that. We'd have a family get-together too, but this year's been a bit of a wild one, so most of my extended family is having it at home.

My parents always go to church on Christmas Eve for midnight service, and I like going to. Christmas Day has been pretty laid back. Couple presents etc, low key. It’s not about spending money it’s about being together with family and celebrating the birth of Jesus. Even though it’s really not his birthday.
Then we usually go skiing for a week in Vermont. It’s whatbtheyve always done and I’ve just fallen into doing that to. It’s fun and not all steered out like we see everyone being this time of year
