View Full Version : What do you think of Snapmap?

If you're unaware, one of Snapchat's more recent updates involved an interactive map that shows where all your friends are (depending on if they've activated their Snapmap and if they have it enabled or not) in almost real time. It only shows where your friends are where they were the last time they were active in the app. Like "Brady was in St. Paul, MN 14 minutes ago" since the last time Brady was on Snapchat, he was chatting with someone whilst in his office in St. Paul. What do you guys think of this new feature? I've heard everything from people saying they think it's creepy and weird to people saying they love it because they can stalk their friends. About two-thirds of my friends have it disabled. I do from time-to-time as well depending on the situation I'm in.
Attached below is an example from my phone showing what the map looks like.

Most of my friends, including myself, have it disabled. Yeah it is creepy, and it's pointless because most of the time they'll appear to be at work/school/home so it doesn't really give you much useful information.

I don’t. Mainly cause I don’t want my rents to know where I am lol!!

That sounds creepy. I don't even use Snapchat so I'm not worried.

I'm okay with it, I only have people I trust on Snap anyway and they wouldn't care.

I disabled it the second I saw the update. That just seems way to intrusive for me to be comfortable with

We used it A LOT for our DofE, checking where people were, and if we went the right way. It was useful, in that way, but I think it's just a bit too far.

I don’t really see a problem with it

I don't have SnapChat, but if I did, I would turn off that feature. I don't like the idea of my location being put out there for others to see, even just to family and friends.

I guess im the only one here who checks it everyday *cries*, Don’t know why but it feels like looking out of window to see what’s happening lol
But yes that feature can be creepy

I think it's kinda a thing stalkers would use... I always have it disabled and I don't see the point of it

That sound really creepy to me. I don't use Snapchat but I would probably disable it.

I don't find it intrusive since I only have people I've talked at length to on there. But to me it's just another cheap embellishment onto a product that didn't need to be fiddled with.

Super weird. I find it hard to believe Snaps devs thought it was a good idea. The maps are too precise. It would be better showing a general location.
