So this is my story with depression. I had struggled with it for a short time during the summer of 2016. Then in November 2016 my parents were both killed by a drunk driver who blew a red light while they were coming home from their anniversary dinner. That plunged me into depths that I would not wish upon my worst enemy. Now it is officially been over a year since I last hurt myself and I am still going strong. I hope this is a place where I can vent. The people here seem very supportive and I hope to make some friends :)

That is a tough life and bad turn of events for you, but you definitely shouldn't have had all that happen to u in 1 night. Congrats to holding out past 1 year, and congrats for making it this far in life. I'm sure your family would be very proud and I hope you keep getting stronger. :)

These kinds of advice might be worthless, but do something to keep your mind busy, so you are always moving forward, instead of staying behind, and crying in tears. Do something you like and enjoy doing, because you are the pride of your parents, the seed they placed in this world to grow and love. It's up to you to live for your parents, because this is their sacrifice. I hope you have a fulfilling life and make the most of it. So please, keep moving forward.

Yes I am living with my aunt and uncle. My cousin had an account here and he told me about this place.

Hi Julia. Please vent as needed. That was a terrible trauma. You know that better than anybody. I'm glad you're feeling better than you were. But please don't feel you have to be not depressed just because a certain time has passed. No clock is ticking for you. :)

That is really very amazing. I struggle with severe depression and self harm issues for so many years now.
So I feel it would be interesting for me to learn a bit more about how you overcame all those things and got so strong.
I never seem able to find a solution for my problems so I would love to hear how you managed to come back from the depths of depression and becoming so strong.

I am so sorry about what happened to your parents. A traumatic event like that could cause anyone to go down a negative path. Good to hear that you are so strong. Keep going.

Julia I am so upset for you that you went through this and you are so brave to post about it. I don't know if I would be able to cope with things like that but I think I would need loads of support from friends.

Its great that you are doing well now! I am sorry about your parents. Drunk driving is unacceptable and its horrible that anyone would do it!

WOW! i don't know what to say. that is so sad, it would make any normal person very depressed. i hope the drunk driver spends a million years in jail or whatever the max is for it.
