It rarely happens to me, but if it does, tucking it into the waistband is probably the best option other than maybe going to the bathroom and waiting it out.

If I'm in school and sitting down I will cover it with book or jacket. If I'm with friends I don't try to hide it usually. In other circumstances, I do what everyone else says here...I tuck it under the waistband of my briefs.

Its really hard to hide when going commando, but tucking it under your waist band is the best solution. It works for me. hahaha

In answer to your question, my Mom then asked if my cousin, also 12, wore a jock strap to hid his boners. I told her he did not because I knew he did not own one. I did not get any more hard-ons near my Mom that I know of.

Like others have said, you can tuck it under your waistband. I have also covered myself with a textbook if I had to walk around or if I have a hoodie/jacket, I would tie it around my waste to cover it up.

I heard that walking up stairs in big steps (Or just walking on the ground with big steps) helps get rid of an erection. And in fact, if you get an erection that lasts for several hours, doctors will probably recommend you to walk up and down stairs.

I put my hands in my pockets and push them out so they are on the same level as my penis. Also, sometimes I try to hold my penis to my body (hand in pocket)

I dont really try to hide it unless im at school. Even then I usually wear jeans with a belt so its kinda hard to put it under the waistband
