i've recently relapsed after 10 months without a single cut. i'm trying my best to stop but I keep slipping up. by the time the weather gets warm (very soon I suspect) they'll still be noticeable. :/
do you think wearing long sleeves will be suspicious? I know my mom is on the look out because she found my sister's cuts 2 summers ago.
do you wear long sleeves in summer or do you not care if someone sees?

I haven't cut in years... but congrats on hanging in for so long! That must have been tough.

For the most part, I didn't really care because the scars weren't too large and deep to really notice much, but tanning and some flesh-colored concealer (the make-up kind you put on your face), did help a bit.

Don't do it for scars because I always cut on my legs. But I often wear an unbuttoned long sleeve shirt (over a t-shirt) in the summer, with the sleeves rolled up just a little past my wrists.

it was tough at first but it got to a point to where I hardly thought about it. when I got urges, I resisted but I guess I just blew up. I feel as though i'm going into my old ways. I didn't cut for very long. 4, 5 months maybe. but I cut almost every night, minus a few weeks here and there trying to quit, of course.
but I don't want anyone to know. last summer it wasn't a concern. my scars were faded enough and I just needed to avoid letting people look at my wrists directly. but i'm concerned because I don't know how strong I am this year or if i'm willing to quit. I don't want my mom suspicious though. :/ she'll make me take shitty ginseng tablets and st. john's wort. like she did with my sister. plus my mom doesn't handle these things very well and I don't wanna burden her.

I don't know if this helps you at all, but here 99% of the people in the street don't wear long-sleeved shirts.

You might want to try some makeup as Ezra said, or wristbands perhaps.

I've tried makeup but it didn't work well. and ended with my sister finding out. luckily she didn't eat me out. perhaps wrist bands could work

Congrats on the ten months :) Like the others have said, concealer or wristbands are your best bet, or else chunky bracelets. Aloe Vera gel can help the scars to fade faster.

Nobody over here wears long sleeves in the summer, or winter for that matter. If you don't feel comfortable wearing long sleeves, you can always try the wristband. They might work because you'd be able to cover up certain scars. At least you're out of school for the summer anyway, so you don't have to worry about that. It would be sort of difficult hiding your scars from other students and teachers, right?

it really doesnt matter if a lot of people do it. i'm just wondering if my mom would think something's up, or my siblings. :p well, I guess everyone else for that matter. is it suspicious looking?

I wear long sleeves constantly. Under school clothes I wear a thermal base layer in winter, especially during PE as we get told off for jumpers but I've managed to keep up with that. For me it's not suspicious because I'm constantly cold even in hot weather, plus, living in the UK it doesn't even get very hot but I really wouldn't worry about looking suspicious. What would you rather? People commenting about scars or about long sleeves? Buy some thinner long sleeved shirts so they keep you cool or even some thin jackets to wear over short sleeves, they're pretty useful if you keep them close just incase you start getting self conscious.

I've just been on a school trip to India and I brought with me some concealor and foundation that I had tested at boots so it definitely matched my skin colour (this is probably what you had trouble with, get it done properly and you should find the colour covers them well but it did make my skin look white(ish) (I'm asian) and matt - better than scars though). If I put on a couple layers of councealor and then covered it with foundation and repeated a couple of times then that usually covered them up pretty well, not perfectly but good enough. I have some bad scars on my forearm and wrist and people didn't comment when I had makeup on. I would definitely purchase some if you're worried. At least then it's there for backup.

the skin color wasn't the problem, really. it was the fact that it didn't cover well at all no matter how much I put on.
I will probably wear long sleeves... my best bet. I have a thin hoodie that I LOVE that will probably not be too hot. I'll probably wear that a lot and invest in some other thin hoodies.

I have a couple thin hoodies that I constantly wear in the summer, but year round too. I 'complain' about always being cold, so that come summer, it's less of a shock. Since a lot of places use air conditioning in the summer, I was never really questioned about it, and when I was outside, I'd use it as a protection from the sun. I'm in Pennsylvania, and it's in the 70s-80s+ in the summer most times.

I've never had luck with makeup either. I have tons of stuff that matches well but it just never does what I want, which is why I keep the hoodies. I've also used bracelets; a few small ones or a cute big one can work depending on how many and where.

It's hard to say if your mom will be suspicious or not, given her experience with your sister, but here's to hoping she won't. Best of luck to you. x
