Religions teach certain beliefs, certain behaviors, certain ways to look at the world. If you are a religious person, how does it make you who you are?

For me, it makes me a better person in general. It helps me make better decisions for myself, as well as for helping others. Both of which I have improved on a lot since I started going to church. I’ve been nicer, a better person, not an asshole I used to be. It helps me to form I think better quality opinions about things, things with a moral basis. Also something I lacked before.

I am a Buddhist. It has helped me become more mindful of my actions and their consequences. Without it, I am a much more erratic, unpredictable, and morally uncertain person.

In a way this changes from person to person. The more positive aspects and values held by different faiths help many people become wonderful, helpful individuals who make the world a better place. However, it can also be argued that it isn't necessarily religion itself that does that. There are plenty of perfectly moral and kind atheists and irreligious people just as there are a plethora of morally bankrupt yet pious individuals.

I believe that if we all lived by Bible standards the world would be a much better place to live. You don't necessarily have to be Christian (like me) to follow the principle 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' as spoken by Jesus, to know that this is the right way to develop and define who we are.

I think, as a nonbeliever, my philosophy could be tied to having an inquisitive personality.

I kow lots of people from different religions and cultures, but for myself I am happy I have loving parents who put God first in their lives and treat others around them with love, and respect. That's a big reason I think I strive to be like them in many ways. They are so well respected by everyone in our community. I believe everyone out there needs and deserves love and kindness.

Inquisitive eh? I believe as humans we are all held to that level being inquisitive, after all, it has been this curiosity that has led to the most purest and greatest of scientific and technological advances in history. It has been questions, that has placed us where we are to this day. I respect you for that.

I'm not so impressed with our scientific and technical advances since the nineteenth century, which is undeniably enormous for 218 years.
But I wish, that curiosity would have given us also a great, if not greater, social progress. The backlog feels a century behind.
I think I'm very religious with that.

Your religion doesn't make you who you are, you make your religion what it is. I think that it is very rare to believe in a particular sector of a faith and agree with everything that they say. For example, Islamic terrorists are not your ordinary Muslim and being Islamic did not make them terrorists. They made their religion into a negative thing.

My religion has made me a better person. I was raised as a Catholic and I go to Sunday classes. All of that never really mattered until this certain event happened, and I started to see things clearer. Until now, it does get blurry sometimes, but it always turn clear when I seek Him. And also, because we're supposed to love everyone, I was forced to look at people and try to reason their actions. Slowly, everything falls into place and it gets to me that most of the time people aren't evil, they're just a victim of evil or circumstances they were forced into, it's not their fault. I started to respect and accept them the way they are. Now, I really don't mind your skin, face, body, sexuality, race, religion, beliefs, whatever, I accept you and I am totally fine with what you're doing. As long as you don't disrespect other people's existence. I have also became an individualist. Not in a way that I don't want to work with other people, but in a way that I think you should own yourself. You matter, go flaunt what you've got, you don't need other people.
