wearing underwear under swim shorts... why?

Even though I'm boy, I still don't understand why some boys are wearing their underwear (mostly boxer shorts) under their swim shorts... I never did it, cuz there's no reason for that... (I mean I'm naked under my swim shorts)... Is it because of hiding their erection or what?

Yeah almost all teen boys here do that. My shorts have a mesh liner in them that's supposed to be like underwear. But I still usually put boxers under cause that's what everyone else does. Not sure why its done but if you don't do it you'll get teased here.

Well I don't wear boxers but under my board shorts I might wear boxer briefs/trunks or briefs. I don't think the mesh lining in some swimming trunks is very comfortable, that might be part of the reason why many do it.

I wear speedos so there is no reason to wear anything under it. I think some boys are modest.

I do the same, and take the shorts off to swim. Board shorts are heavy enough when wet and take forever to dry compared to a speedo. I wouldn't want to have wet underwear on too.

I hate that mesh lining. If I have to wear a bathing suit, I cut it out and wear a jock strap or compression shorts. But I don’t get wearing boxers under the swim shorts with a mesh lining at all

I do it. Swim trunks, especially those with the mesh lining, are not that comfortable and can start chafing me fairly easily. Wearing underwear beneath my bathing suit is just more comfortable for me.

If I’m wearing a pair of trunks with a liner, I don’t wear anything underneath. But if I wear regular board shorts, I’ll I wear a pair of briefs.

When I have on Board Shorts I have compression shorts under them to hold everything in place. Also to stop the rub I would get from swimming in just board shorts.

I do, I usually wear compression shorts under board shorts or swim trunks. They help keep everything in place especially when board shorts don't have a liner. They help hide erections and they don't show the outline of my penis when I'm wet.

My shorts when wet might cling to my junk and will look ugly
Briefs will hide an accidental erection
Without my undies sand will get into my crotch area and will be uncomfy
When done swimming - I just take my shorts off, wipe my body....and hang out in sun just in my undies....in 15 min they are dry, - then get back to my normal clothing.

Not positive. But I think it's cuz guys are wearing underwear before swimming and they are too modest to get naked before swimming. In other words. They wake up and get dressed and put board shorts on over their underwear. They way breakfast, game, chill, go to the mall/movies/beach/ball/friends or whatever and eventually get to the pool and for whatever reason are to chicken to get naked in front of their friends before getting in the pool. But they gotta go home in soaking wet undies that don't dry well. Some guys will get naked after swimming cuz at least its only once and not twice. But majority of these guys won't get naked before or after.
