[FAMILY OR DEPRESSION TRIGGERS]
Hi,
I have quite a few friends over the internet who are struggling with depression; I believe one of them have BPD too. In order to make the thread constructive for everyone, I would not impose specific details, let's just say we have little to no contact in real life; so talking face-to-face won't work. Most of us are around the age of 15-18; our families don't care about depression or any other mental illnesses. So we are left to only ourselves.
Most suggetions on the web about helping depressed friends asume they have physical contact, so they are not fully effective. I try to be a good listener, remind them of their good features and things like that. Helping people with depression or similar problems is a hard task, I know. So, if you have any suggetions/stories/opinions, please post them here (and place trigger warnings if necessary). Hopefully this will be a constructive thread for everyone.
Have a good day!

I too try to help people with their depression and problems. Some reassurance and kind words go a long ways.

I've had to deal with a depressed friend who, though not strictly online, communicated with me mostly online, and didn't really communicate as much in real life. Said friend was very hard to talk to, though it was doable. My suggestion would be to avoid blunt language, though you likely don't have much of a problem with that anyways...

Even though it's over the internet try FaceTiming or skype, it gives it a personal face to face contact without actually being next to them. Talk about your problems together and listen, just talk about anything for that matter it's what helped me. Hope it works let me know how it goes
