Its not. Websites just have to do their due diligence of asking if the user is 18, and even if/when the user lies, the site is off the hook, legally, so no one really cares. Physical porn, like magazines is a different story though, I think

Porn sites have an 18+ warning. But by law, you must be 18 to own or buy pornographic DVDs, magazines, etc. I wonder if the 18+ warning has any correlation with law.

I don't think the police are actively looking for people watching porn illegally, unless it is child porn, as they have other priorities. So it comes down to the websites concerned. If you were to pay to watch porn, having a credit card to make the payment would, in most places, indicate you were 18. For free sites the site will just ask you to confirm you are 18 and those potential watchers who aren't are free to lie. The site doesn't care because they have shifted the blame onto the person watching. Then there are the pirate copies of paid for porn and really, if a site is happy to break copyright law, they are not any more likely to be concerned with age restrictions.

I think most people watch porn at the start because they are curious and want to see body parts and sexual activities that they have not seen or done in real life. Thereafter it is one way to get horny to fuel a masturbation session. It is not the only way, though. It is possible to just concentrate on the physical sensations, to fantasise, i.e. use your imagination freely, and to read erotica, which obviously also uses your imagination but directed by the writing. It is probably good to try different things and not rely solely on porn.

Yes, it is technically illegal but most people don't care all that much and arousal overrules them. It's pretty difficult to be caught for doing it unless you're doing it for harmful reasons. Plus it is thought of as a minimally harmful pastime.

True. My friend got caught watching porn by his dad. His dad felt suspicious that there was nothing besides school-related stuff on the browsing history (He used private browsing mode). Then his dad checked the router's history and found porn sites. I am worried that might happen to me, so I don't watch porn.
