Boy vs girl physical and emotional maturity

I've never thought of this question until school started this year for my senior year. I've always just gone along with the girls are more physically and emotionally mature than boys line but lately I've really noticed it. Especially with stupid freshman boys running around like idiots in the hallways. Also noticing how short they are ant small.

So my question is at what age do boys catch up with girls? Do they catch up both physically and emotionally at the same time?

Girls - do you like (or try) to date older boys because boys your age are not emotionally and physically mature as you prefer?

True. But you're 17 so a junior or probably even a senior, so did you ever feel the maturity gap was "substantial" or "annoying"? Was it worse when you were younger compared to now? Did you date older guys because of it?

It was with some, not with others. I've never dated a guy way older than me, maybe a year or two...

I was curious about this so I googled it. Girls start puberty as early as 9 and stop at 16 or 17. Boys start puberty around 11 and stop at 18 or 19.

I have always felt girls matured faster than boys too. I think they catch up at 16 years old or there abouts.
