Is anyone able to recommend any reputable/good brands for walking or hiking boots? Or just generally hard wearing, long lasting and comfortable sneakers. I'm going on a trip early next year and we're going to be doing some serious hiking and walking and I don't think my casual Nikes are gonna cut it.

Thanks

It depends on your feet tbh. For instance, my feet are narrow with really high arches, so the brand Ahnu works for me. Some stores have this device you stand on to determine what shape insoles you need. Go to a camping store or wherever and have an employee help you.

I have a pair of Merrill hiking shoes. They are weatherproof as well. Not sure where you are from, there’s lots of outlets Merrell in the US. I think my mom got it for me for 50 US.

Scarpa boots are very good quality hiking boots that last a long time.

As kirsty_js16 already wrote, I would recommend army boots to you.
I wear some myself on my tours. They are a little more expensive but have a long shelf life. Make sure that the shoes really fit. The sole should have a good profile and protect the ankles (so that nothing happens if you twist your ankle). But it can happen that you still get a blister the first time you wear it (at least it happened to me). After that they are great.

These ones are expensive but they are really good. They are from REI.

I wear a Merrell hiking boot for walking
in the woods as well in Winter. I find
them to be comfortable and wearing
well.

I have 2 pairs of Merrell hiking boots. They have different styles for different types of trails. One pair kind of looks like tennis shoes. They are really comfortable and good for hiking on clear paths and roads. They have a low cut around the ankles. The other pair are standard hiking boots with hi tops that cover my ankles. Both dry out very fast which is important. Another important thing is to get some good pairs of smart wool socks. You can have a great pair of boots but still be uncomfortable in just some regular socks mad for normal shoes.

I personally like Allen Edmonds, a bit pricy but very well made and comfortable.
