Hi, I recently noticed my post count was reduced from ~2600 to just under 2200, and that's whatever. My question is, why do I still have my custom user title?

It turns out that some people, myself included, were (unintentionally) spamming the "compliments" thread, and quite a few posts were deleted, which is understandable. I'm not sure what the story is with your title but at least you got to keep it XD

It was moved to the arcade, where posts are not added to your count. None of the posts were deleted, but the thread just got moved. It's nothing to worry about, though.

Yeah, I don't care about my post count. I'm just curious as to why my title hasn't been reverted to "awesome poster"

I really don't know. On my screen, you still had the green face, but now it's yellow.

Yeah, I had the green face then went to a different page and it was yellow but I still had the custom title, despite my PC being under 2500

I think it must be that once you get a custom title, you can't lose it from post drop. Like, if you had 2,500 posts and made a custom title, then one post was removed and you lost it - that would be pretty annoying so I can see why it's left in. Anyway, you get it for REACHIN 2,500, which you did :)

How you made atleast 250 posts in the compliments thread anyway is beyond me

I just went over 100, and now I'm back to 95 and can't PM. No fair. >.< :'(

To my knowledge, I don't believe moving post count from one section to another actually lowers post count. So if you made something in a section that does have post count turned on and then move it to a place where it is turned off it shouldn't make any difference to your existing total.
I think that's how it has worked in the past ?

So how has my count dropped to 21-whatever yet I still have the custom title? Doesn't that number have to be past 2500 to have a custom title?

It does lower it. Apart from the living proofs we have here, It's basically a concept of "every thread under this *ARCADE* subforum will not raise post count" so If you move one there it's posts dont rise the numbers, but as they had already been risen, they lower.

They do lower your post count. I remember when posts in your diary no longer counted. What you had already posted stayed, but any additional post wouldn't be accounted for.

Put it this way, an hour or so ago, I had 3,060 odd posts. Now its under 2,500. If it wans't the section-change for the Compliments thread then some weird-ass shit going down ove heea. But It's just numbers :P

True. For me, the compliments thread should only have hacked off 100-ish posts, and I'd still be at 2500. Maybe more posts were un-counted elsewhere on the site

Basically, when you hit 2500 posts, you get added to a user group which gives you the custom title option. When you go below it again, it doesn't take you out of the group. It's not a huge deal that we really worry about.

I'm actually having similar thoughts. I had 3060, now I'm at 2450. Now, it says I have 160 posts in that thread, I realise it was cut back to a few days ago, ie, replies were removed, but surely I should be back maybe 250 odd posts rather than 600?? I honestly don't care about the posts, but I'm weirded out right now...

I remember when I first came on someone had a custom user title and a 1000+ face and I wondered how he did that - now I know.
I don't remember what my post count was, but I'm pretty sure it took a dip.
I didn't even know the post a complement thing was adding to the post count.

I got my wires crossed. I believe you're correct,
I got mixed up. I believe you won't see a post count change if you turn off post count for a forum that previously had post count on. I got confused :P

It depends. Mike or Val may have done a recount, which recounts everyones posts, depending on whether VB lowers post count on deletion, some do some dont. If the recount then everyones will be lower

About 100 posts off! Wow! Did I post all these on only a thread?

If you read the entire thread I actually corrected myself later on.
