We live in a world where we find it to be okay if we are lazy from time to time. On the other hand it would be more beneficial if we actually put the time in to pursue our dream and anything that gets in the way.

Teens procrastinate because school work sucks

Well I think the most reasonable explanation is that in modern generations, the mind (particularly the teenage mind) has become accustomed to, possibly due to the advent of technology, not having to be patient of work hard towards a goal, and in that respect oh hey look Skylanders I wanna play Skylanders I havent played that shit in ages

Honestly I think there are many not-100% answers to this.
My defence to my procrastination is that it frees me a bit from the race of study, exams and other things that demand completion like a challenge almsot set for a computer. I don't let myself get bogged down by do-this-do-that-now predictive future stuff, so I just relax and let life be more unpredictable and comfortable.
I don't know if that makes sense.

I procrastinate because there are things I'd rather be doing on the computer.

Lack of focus and ambition. That applies for adults to. I have noticed procrastinators are mentally weaker.

I procrastinate because I'm busy during the weekdays from the moment I wake up to the time I go to bed. On the weekends, I like to relax and do as little work as possible. I would say that, on average, teenagers (including myself) procrastinate because they're easily distracted by "more interesting things". I'd rather play games or watch videos than do my Spanish homework and start a paper on test-anxiety. I always end up getting the work done though.

Why I procastinate?
Oh, let's see;
you only have to deal with puberty, social pressures, anxiety, self hate, constant sleep, lack of sleep, regular work, fights with family, and on top of that all of your school work-
and if you mess either one of those things up, people will yell at you!

Procrastination is one thing that we all probably have went through before. Anything from school, work,to working out,to other stuff. The only way to break procrastination is to let yourself know that shit has to be done. The first mistake is to even think about putting it away to do other stuff that isn't as important. The second is telling yourself it's totally fine.

Practice the habit of getting things done just by doing it whenever it's possible to. It's like a mental exercise really,it only gets better if you put in the effort and not procrastinate on it too.

I think it is because kids are more naturally geared towards playing and having fun.

When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily,
joyfully, playfully watching me.
But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible,
logical, responsible, practical.

Society is just screwed, teens these days have got Ipads, Iphones, Computers and all this technology which makes them procrastinate.. this might not be the case but I think this has made teens lazier..

I dont know I have that technology and I am lazy as well XD

Not only teenagers procrastinate; people of all ages procrastinate.

There isn't really some special reason why we procrastinate. In fact, it's pretty commonsense. Those goals (etc) are things that are off in the future. Everything we are interacting with in the present, well... they aren't in the future. Our mind's prioritize more immediate things. If we didn't, we'd be constantly stressed about absolutely every aspect of our lives.

Well it's because there are things I'd rather be doing than doing homework. I think it's instinct.

This, basicly.

lack of proper parenting, focus, ambition, lack of good role models,a feeling of entitlement due to everything being so easy...oh yeah and the fact in movies and such slackers are being glorified.

As a matter of fact I think most of the members of our Generation in the Western World have it wayyy to easy

Cause we're lazy hehehehehehe- ehem.
I think it's mostly because as a teen our heads are usually swirling with different and random ideas, thoughts and just in general, daydreaming. As well as hormones, which can often make us have a harder time focusing on one thing. We're still kids in way( big kids lol) and there are still new things we are constantly learning and experiencing, so we have a hard time getting excited to do one thing.

I think the MAJOR problem is there are in Civilized Westen society no more intitation rituals to celebrate the phases of life going like birth and childhood, transitioning into a teen, transitioning into an Adult. Thus there are no markers for these phases of life and most teens are left groping in the dark as it where for some sign as to are they a child or an Adult. That's one reason you see so many people up in their 20's still carrying on in public like they are 13 or 14 years old.

First drink? Losing your virginity? You don't have to be carried around in a chair to become an adult

Those are not real defining moments of the start of new phases in ones life.

Any one can drink and still be childish and not have to grow up, same with sex anyone can have sex and not have to become an adult.

Neither of what you said are true defining moments that show that a person is now leaving one phase of life behind, instead they are the mere blind gropings for a defining moment that transitions one into another phase of life.

But holding someone on a chair makes them an adult how?

But holding someone on a chair makes them an adult how?

You don't even understand.

Your the one talking about holding people on a chair you have done and seen too much telly.

An intitation ceremony celebrates the fact that you are transtitioning from for example being a child into manhood,it's a defining moment that lets you and everyone else know that form that point on you are now a man and it's time to leave being and actling like a child behind.

Western civilization for the most part does not have these things anymore and that is why you see so many grown ups still acting like a child!

And it has nothing to do with holding people on a chair !

But how does someone telling your that you're a man actually change your traits and personally? It's like me telling someone-lets have an initiation ceremony to make you gay-I'll tell you your gay and then it will be over. It doesn't actually achieve anything substantial
