Is it incest if you're involved with a girl who's like the daughter of your moms cousin?

That would make the girl your second cousin once removed. Basically your cousin. So, yes.

If it's a close enough relation for you to need to question it, yes.

This came up in another forum.
Technically incest means immediate family member.
I'd say a second cousin would be borderline incest.

That would make her your 2nd cousin so yes, it's legally incest, at least in America. I don't know about other countries though.

No it's not incest.

Looked into it some and seems the deciding factor is if you share at least one grandparent. Like if your grandma is also their grandma. However if your grandma is their great grandma, then that's more acceptable in different places.

So I ran the relationship through my mom.
Thing is this girl is 7 years older than me and I just call her cousin cuz our families are superclose.
The relationship is:
My maternal grandma's twin brother is her paternal grandpa.

It might vary from a legal/ moral background and your beliefs. IN the UK (and probably just about anywhere) relationship with a parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle brother/ sister, 1/2 bro or 1/2 sister (bro or sis that share one parent) is incest. Step bro/ step sis are OK (related as my mum married Ur dad rather than blood related). Cousins are legally OK in the UK (and henceforth anything more distant than that too). Anything less than cousins is not really a legal issue, and only sometimes morally an issue if the family is close. The subject of cousins can vary wildly both in legal and moral thoughts. In some cultures, with arranged marriage, it's common, but does lead to a higher risk of deformities of any children produced (something to do with common genetics due to the fact cousins will have a set of shared grandparents). In the UK, it is legally OK, but morally, people can find it a bit weird with someone you've always known.

As she's your second cousin, there's two ways of looking at it:
Genetically- Yes, it is.
Legally- No, it's not.

I wouldn't say it's incest... although then again I only know of my more immediate family, I have no idea who my second cousins are, and I don't really have a clue what you're talking about by "your second cousin once removed" either o.o

Yes. I think so. It depends if you were related by law or blood.

There's a fine line socially, whatever about legally, cause she's your second cousin but do what you think is best because at the end of the day regardless of the legalities it's up to you and her. Marrying might be illegal where you are but that doesn't make it illegal to go out with her. This sort of thing happens with many other "slightly taboo" groupings for example gay marriage in some countries isn't leagalized but that doesnt make it illegal for them to be partners outside of legal rights.

Nope. The bloodlines are too far apart

Talking about German law it would be allowed. Don't know about other countries though.
Personally I think it depended on how close you and your family is to the other part of your family.
Let's say if you grew up as close family members it would be odd to date her.

I'm gonna go with yes, but I'm also gonna say that this particular case isn't nearly as bad as some are. Nothing to worry over.

Legally it depends on where you live, but I think most people would think it weird even if it is allowed.

If you're related by DNA then yes

It is kind of creepy, but I know a few people whose parents are first cousins (my dad's oldest sister is married to her first cousin), so I guess second cousins once removed isn't so bad. In France, you're allowed to marry your first cousin.

Ah...yeahhh! She is still your cousin. ( a joke) But if you live in the hills of Tennessee, West Virginia or some place that., it is ok to go out with your cousin.
