So I am going to be a freshman next year, and obviously gym is mandatory, changing is mandatory, etc... I was just wondering what kind of things i need/should or shouldn’t be worried about. Changing in front of other people has always intimidated me, and I’m almost worried about the fact that people might be uncomfortable changing around me, as I am a gay male. I’m just looking for a little bit of advice and guidance, and would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I'm gonna be a freshman as well but we've been changing in locker rooms since 6th grade, you shouldn't worry about anything really. In my class the lockers were many and only 3 or so people were near me. Just change quick and you can get in and out without anything weird happening (not that anything weird would happen anyway) hope this helps :)

No one really tries to pay attention to that fact when changing really, so don't worry much and it'll go smooth

And lastly, the weirdest thing I've seen is a few fights in the locker room, not much weirder

honestly, after a week or so, most people don't think twice about it. your all guys. different sizes and whatever, but you all got the same basic equipment. they're in the locker room for the same purpose you are, to get clean and dressed. try not to stare at people but that being said, you are going to see people and they're going to see you. try to be comfortable and just do it. I guess if your really worried about getting hard, try to jack off in the morning before you go to school. honestly though, as a bi guy myself, you get used to seeing guys in their underwear and since we shower at my school naked. yes you see guys you find attractive, but you get used to it. just be your normal self, whether fully clothed, underwear, whatever.

You will get used to changing and it will be no big deal after a while. Besides it's nice to look and compare with others.

So true. I started changing around 14 w me swim team. Always some light comments, but it wasall in fun. Laugh it off and it goes away. REACT to it, and itll get worse. If u pop a boner in the shower, big deal. Other guys will eventually too. U can always say something like "yea, i got the boner, but YOU'RE the one staring!! “

Its uncomfortable the first few times but
as time goes by I'm sure no one is going
to pay much attention to anyone. U just
go and do what u have to do and get out.
Try not to show that u r shy or having a
prob with it-even tho u may feel uneasy.
Others may sense this and then single u
out. Since u r gay don't focus on anyone
even if u want to-u don't want probs.

You'll be okay. People will say things; freshman year is always an awkward year for most people. Don't be afraid of anything my man. I lived with over 50 other guys for over six months, using the same showers at the same time and shit. People will comment, but just take it as a joke as most of the comments are. Best advice just focuses on showering, and you will be okay.

It's embarrassing at first, but then it's all good. Everyone does it.

Not a big deal. There are some non written rules (or so it is in Spain).
When you change into sport clothes, go straight for it. Don't mess around with your clothes or pretending you are looking for something in your locker.
Try to keep all your stuff together, don't use much space in the benches.
If showers are far away from your locker, put the towel around your waist to walk there.
Our showers are communal, no walls or curtains, so we use to face the wall most of the time.
Don't stare. Everybody is going to have a look, cause we are all curious, but staring is not appropriate, if you know what I mean.
You'll get used un a couple of weeks, so don't worry very much about it.

You will get used to it after a while. It shouldn't intimidate you, it's a natural thing and most freshmen have that fear, but it's really nothing.

I remember that time. I was a late bloomer puberty wise so I looked more like a 6th grade boy than a freshmen It was embarrassing at 1st but don't forget all the other boys in the locker room are probably just as embarrassed as you are. It's the 1st time for all of you

I have told other people to use that line too. it well shut some guys up if they're giving you too much of a hard time for sure

changing for me has been a problem since i hit puberty. not many of my friends are as far into puberty as i am and are quite curious. i do see them looking quite a bit...i wouldn't be worried, maybe cover up if you're intimidated

I used to wear my underwear under my gym shorts because I was modest, but I got over it. We don't have to shower, but we can if we want to. I do if I am stinky.

You will be fine. We have been changing and showering naked together for years. Just do your business and get in/out. You don't need to advertise the fact that you are gay.

Boners happen sometimes. No worries as we all get them once in a while.
