View Full Version : How to properly wear a condom?

First, I'm 15 and I've never yet had sex but I have a gf and it's looking like the relationship is "picking up steam". What I mean is, I think it's really possible it might happen sometime this summer while we're off from school.
I know the basics and I bought myself a 3-pack of Trojan-ENZ (recommended by a friend who uses them and likes them). I have 'practiced' with one so far, and I know how to unroll it and to leave space for when I cum, but here is my question:
During sex, is the condom supposed to stay tight against the penis, like a second skin, or is my penis supposed to move inside the condom? Especially the head and the really sensitive area just behind the head? (When I was masturbating with it on, if I held my hand tight my penis moved inside the condom, but if I held it loose, the condom moved with my penis.)
And a question for uncircumcised guys: To you put on a condom with your penis head exposed or not exposed? (If your penis was still covered by your foreskin and inside the condom, then the friction would be between your penis and your foreskin? And not from the girl's vagina walls?)

Well as long as it served its main purpose of stopping cum from leaking I guess it doesn;t hugely matter and depends on how much loose skin you have when you're hard but I've never really had it move too much when I've worn them

You should be hard when you put it on. The foreskin should be where it normally is when you're hard, which is usually going to be retracted.

I also never had one move much. Didn't move much when I jo'd. Just watch were you store them until you use it. Heat does effect them.

The sliding is supposed to happen between the outside surface of the condom and the wall of her vagina, not between the inside surface of the condom and your penis. If the latter is happening it maybe because she is too dry or because the condom is too big. Girth is the important measure when chosing a condom for this reason: too tight and it is very uncomfortable, too loose and it will move over your penis. By comparison excess length on the condom is not a problem - it will just stay rolled up at the base.

And, if you're uncut, the foreskin will usually be back.

When we uncut guys put on a condom we roll back our foreskin when putting on a condom. Unless of course your foreskin in very tight and then you can't obviously do that. A condom should fit pretty snug. Did you by the normal size condom or did you buy a magnum by mistake? Are you pretty good size and girth or is your penis smaller? You might have been gripping your dick very firmly too. The condom should move with your strokes. Meaning staying on your dick and not letting your dick slide around in it.

Girth is the important measure when choosing a condom for this reason: too tight and it is very uncomfortable...
I was wondering about size. When I had it on it started to really hurt the base of my shaft, and a vein along the right side of my shaft was all puffed out, and THAT started to hurt after a couple minutes too. So I was thinking, if I was having sex and exerting myself by thrusting, and it started to really hurt like that, I bet no way would I be able to keep my erection! That would be so embarrassing, especially if it was my very first time doing it.
I'm 6.2 inches when I'm fully hard, but I'm about 5.25 inches in girth at the middle of the shaft when I'm erect. That might be my issue with the pain?

I am glad that you are finally getting some action lol
Yes the condom is supposed to stay tight against your penis, if it starts moving then there is a chance that the condom will slip off. You don't want that to happen!
I am uncut and we are meant to retract our foreskin all the way before putting the condom on so the foreskin won't be sliding up an down while you fucked. If the foreskin starts moving then it means your condom is sliding on your penis too and there is a chance it might slip off.

If you're uncut you are supposed to retract your foreskin before applying the condom, though I have tried several times with my foreskin kept forward, and then I'm able to move my foreskin freely back and forth inside by gripping the top of the condom with the base of the condom kept tight. You need to leave plenty of space at the top of th condom for that to work

harristhetank said it well. I am cut so i don't have to worry about that. But you do not want your penis to move around inside it at all because that means it could slip off

yeah it should fit snug on your penis and not slide around. if it slides around on you then there is a possibility of it break or coming off while you are inside the girl.

Scott:
It should fit tight to your shaft, but also Not cut off the blood to the base to the point where you are gona blow a vein. I;m cut, but you should pull back the foreskin before you put it on. Length is not a issue on most condoms, most are like 8-9" long, Yes keep a little on the end to hold the sperm the "Bubble" at the end if for that, just be careful you don't pinch to hard when you roll on that it would break.

You are gona need more then 3, but try out a few to find the right size/brand/feel.

You might (should have) Lube, just in case she is to dry inside. When I did my GF we had to stop since it was hurting her, Got KY Lube and its seem to be good. (Don't use a oil lub the pharmacist said it would breakdown the latex and cause a failure of the condom).

Good advice! Ya it's ok if it's a tiny loose. Hust not at the base. You definitely don't want cum to drip out of it!!!! Also it shouldn't be too loose or I imagine it could tear easily. But it sounds like your size is average-good so really there should be no issues. Unless you bought a weird size you should be fine.

Wait. I'm confused now. reading the first post i thought you said it was loose? After this, was it actually tight?

And you're right about not wanting to get soft when you have sex. That's why you should practice like you are doing. So you get used to it.

I don't know if it is supposed to be loose or tight, like a second skin on my penis or loose to move inside it. In some porn when the guy pulls out it looks like it's really loose or is it supposed to be loose? I don't know which is right. But on me, that brand is uncomfortably tight on my shaft.

It should be tight to your skin on your shaft.

I think you also need to remember that you need to get it out from the girl after orgasm before your penis get soft, or the condom will slip and can sometimes stuck down there if you are both too crazy in action. just little bit based on my experience.

There r some condoms, like "Inspiral, durex pleasure tip," etc. That are made in a different shape. They hug the shaft, but give u extra room around the head to move around inside.
I tried em, but honestly dont feel any difference. But on the other hand, i have one bud who swears by the ballon shape. To each their own i guess........

Neither this nor that, it's supposed to fit.

"Second skin" is actually a good way to say it. Because if we really had second skins it would be fairly tight, BUT a second skin wouldn't be so tight that it caused pain or anything. So second skin is a good way to describe it I think.

Hey scott2002;

in response to this subject of "Condoms", see this reply i posted.

it may help you with that 'Tight' uncomfortable fit at your base.

let me know if this helps you...

The following post is my reply to someone else regarding condom use.

His questions & my answers as follows;

I wanted to know if you have used condoms before:
how old were you 1st time wearing them?
i was around 14

are you STR8, STR8 curious, bi or gay?
i feel that i'm STR8 curious for now

are you cut/uncut?
cut

do you use latex or the lambskin kind?
i've tried both, but lambskin is NOT safe for preventing STD / STI 's !

i heard the lambskin kind don't break as easly as the latex, is that true?
true, but see the above warning !

I heard if you are uncut you are suppose to pull your foreskin back with latex, because they are tight, since the lambskin are looser can you leave the skin alone?
this is true but they also make latex condoms that have more head room and still stays snug on the shaft.

what brands have you tried trojan durex or ?
both , but i use a brand called 'ONE'.
They also have a variety pack, very helpful when you are looking for or trying to find the best fit and feel.

any other info about condoms?
also try using them to wank, it gives you the chance to make up your own mind without the stress of your partner waiting on you to 'Test Drive' something you haven't tried before. It helps with clean up too.

NEVER lube up yourself Before putting it on. Your pre-cum will be your natural lube, added lube inside the condom will only make it slip off.

Whatever your length is, try to unroll an inch or two Before putting On.
It will be more comfortabe at the base of your shaft, No Tight Condom Band to Constrict your blood flow, and by leaving 'One , Two or Three Inches' of Room at the Tip of any Condom will Prevent the Condom from getting FLOODED. Flooding would Also make your condom slip off.

Good luck and keep us posted. i hope this helps you.
