I agree, that at my school it's only the guys on sports teams that actually use the showers. I played middle school football and baseball, so I've been in our showers a lot since 7th grade.

(I think society is a LONG way from having coed showers in schools. But I'd love to have a "girl who identifies as a boy" demand to use the boy's showers at my school. We joke about that a lot.)

When I was in high school, not only did the sports teams showered, but they gave us time to shower after gym as well. technically it was not forced, but it was strongly recommended. I am glad they gave us the time too, it was nice not having to go through the rest of the day smelling and sweaty. Now that I am in college, a lot of the people who use the weight room available for everyone will go back home/to their dorms to shower, but a fair number of people still shower, esp if they got to go to work or get back to class.

Well, for space wise, I guess it is probably more practical to have a big open room. I understand why some want the privacy stalls (and those can be nice too don't get me wrong). As far as coed or whatever, I think the gym type setting it is more proper to keep single sex.

i think the idea of separate showers is the girls may get hit on or groped or even consent to sex act, but 1-2 gay guys is never going to lead to that

We do not shower at school because we are not required to and our showers are very disgusting. Although I do think that we should, especially after a very active gym class.
