They are as harmful as other caffeine products. Following are negative health effects of caffeine, according to Wikipedia:
■Caffeine can increase blood pressure in non-habitual consumers.[21] High blood pressure is associated with an increase in strokes, and cerebral vascular disease, which in turn increase the risk of multi-infarct dementia.[21]
■Caffeine may reduce control of fine motor movements (e.g. producing shaky hands)[11]
■Caffeine can increase cortisol secretion, some tolerance is developed.[22]
■Caffeine can contribute to increased insomnia and sleep latency.[11]
■Caffeine is addictive.[11] Caffeine withdrawal can produce headache, fatigue and decreased alertness.
■High doses of caffeine (300 mg or higher) can cause anxiety.[11]
■High caffeine consumption has been linked to an increase in the likelihood of experiencing auditory hallucinations.[23]
■High caffeine consumption accelerates bone loss at the spine in elderly postmenopausal women.[24]
However, I believe that you'll be safe if you use them with moderation.

I find that I have far more energy and alertness if I drink lots of water and get plenty of rest. caffeine "alertness" feels druggy and gross, and just isn't the same. glad I managed to wean myself off of energy drinks for good.

As long as you dont take more than one at a time, usually they have 100mg of caffeine in them.
There is nothing wrong otherwise, if you bought a strong coffee it would be just as bad, or a couple of cans of red bull.

They're not harmful if you don't overdose.
But for god's sake don't ever ever ever try to snort them, because that's plain stupid and you'll fuck your nose up with all those binders.
