I was cut when a baby but to answer your question, it depends on the method your doctor uses, you have to discuss them with him.

I found this:

Several options for pain relief have been found to be effective:

-Numbing cream: EMLA (Eutectic Mixture of Local Anesthetics) cream contains the numbing medicines lidocaine and prilocaine. It can be spread on the tip of the penis 60 to 90 minutes before the procedure. It helps numb the penis and relieve pain during the circumcision procedure, and wears off shortly afterward.
-Injections of numbing medicine: There are two common methods of numbing the penis by injection. Dorsal penile nerve block is an injection of lidocaine at the base of the penis; subcutaneous ring block is an injection of lidocaine around the shaft. They numb the nerves in the penis

Also:

The procedure is performed under a local anaesthetic that is injected at the root of the penis. An interval of about 10 minutes is given before the actual procedure is started so that the penis is completely anaesthetised and no pain will be felt during the procedure. The groin is fully prepped and draped to undertake the procedure in a sterile fashion. A surgical marker pen is used to mark the line of incision on the foreskin to guide the level of the cut – this ensures that the skin removed is symmetrical and that the best final cosmetic result can be achieved. Freehand excision of the foreskin is performed along this mark. The procedure finishes with a thin strip of non-adherent dressing along the line of the wound. This serves two purposes: (1) it protects the wound from contamination and; (2) it helps to keep the swelling down.

The length of time required in total for the procedure is approximately one hour. This is broken down into (1) consultation (20 mins); (2) local anaesthetic application and time for it to take effect (10 mins) and; (3) surgery itself (30 mins).

Hey dude, I got two injections in the base of my penis. As it was explained to me it was one injection for each nerve that goes to the penis. Reading up on it I think it's the dorsal block technique. They injected on either side of that dip that is in the middle of the base if that makes any sense. The needle looked about one inch long and stung a lot going in, more than arm shots. I didn't watch how deep it went in but it felt pretty deep and was in about ten seconds. Second shot hurt just as much unfortunately but everything went numb quickly after that.

I've heard the ring block technique takes longer and is more shots but you only feel the first one and it's a smaller needle but don't quote me on that. Either way I'm sure doctor will try to make it hurt as little as possible.
