Soooo is there anyone on here that's on the pill? If so, how old were you when you started taking it? And, any advice on how I can approach my mom about it? I'm currently not on it, but I'd like to have that added protection just in case. I have no idea how to bring it up with my mom. She knows I'm sexually active, and she's ok with it as long as I use protection. Thanks for the help!

I am on it. I would say explain to her what you sorta just did ( about it being added protection). Since she knows your sexually active already it shouldn't be too big of a deal :)

I think I might be in a different situation than you though, my mom is actually then one who recommended I do it. So as far as approaching your mom about it...I'm not sure how that would work out.
Maybe what you can do is go see your gyno...and bring it up with her/him and maybe have them bring it up with your mom and recommend it. That way it'll be coming from your doctor, and not just an idea from your crazy head :p Sometimes your doctor can fix you up with the right meds and it evens and regulars out your period some.

All that being said, I still have used other protection with guys, unless I end up dating them for a long time.

Yes I might do that. I have a checkup in May, so I could talk to them about it. My mom is pretty laid back, so she'll prob be ok with it. Thank you!

I don't take the pill because I'm not having sex. Last year when I had a boyfriend some of my friends said I should go on the pill just in case I ended up having sex with my boyfriend but I didn't go on it because I wanted to wait to have sex.

When I turned 14 Mom had me go on the pill. But I always have guys cover up if they want sex

I've been on the pill since I was 12, same goes for my sisters, as genetically speaking, the women in our family have a history of notoriously bad periods. So that might also be a subject you wanna discuss when you tell your mother you want to start taking the pill. I'm sure she'll understand, possibly even be proud that you're being responsible enough to want a back up just in case the guy's rubber tears or something. Anyway, best of luck!
