Every time after i have compared with someone..i can't help but wonder why we are curious and what drives us to compare?

Ever since I was a little kid I sensed there was something really special about this thing, because our parents told us it was private, and we were to keep it covered at all times, and nobody else was allowed to touch it. Seeing how all guys cocks are basically the same, but all are very different looking, at the same time. That was my curiosity about the time I turned 12.

You could not have put it any better that's exactly why I started comparing when I was around 9 now of course it's still fun to compare but it's what happens after that's the best bit

That's such a greAt point lol. People like the rush of showing something that they have been told not to.
Also it's human nature to be curious about anything in general. In this case maybe even instinctual.

I've been curious if 'modesty' (not wanting others to see us naked) is inborne or it's something we just develop as we get older. A couple years ago a little boy, about 5 years old ran out of his house BUCK NAKED when he heard the ice cream truck! He was standing with the other kids, with a dollar bill in his hand, and thought nothing of the fact that he didn't have a speck of clothes on! (Then his mom came out, scooped him up, scolded him, I'm sure, and took him into the house.)
I know we are not supposed to tell stories on VT, but this just shows that as a young boy he didn't care who saw him completely naked.

I'm sure it's fine as long as it adds to the convo. I think it's a combination of it being drilled in our heads as young kids, seeing the norm of everyone else wearing clothes, and not wanting to be different. If everyone was always naked and clothes didn't exist I'm sure it would just be less of an issue. Now it's like the biggest thing people keep from others lol

Nudity is like prohibited in today's society although being naked is totally natural and not inappropriate or sexual. Being nude really has no correlation with sex. I think because of all that it sparks us to be curious as to what other guy's bodies may look like.

Truuuu our society sexualizes the body so much when it's really not. Which also limits everything. Good point lol

i think body modesty is taught to the point of body shame, not only by family but society in general. look at all the posts from boys even afraid to take their shirts off or asking if it's "normal" to sleep with their bodies slightly exposed. so getting the chance to see another boys penis is exciting but the trade off is showing yours, which is also exciting because it's something that is not considered acceptable.
BTW, that 5 year old could have been me or my when we were that age.

I think I've always been curious how other guys are built and how other guys are put together as guys partly because I was an early bloomer and was hairy before a lot of other guys were and so I was always curious about how my body compared and how hairy other guys were, how big their dicks are and stuff like that. Just seeing where you fit in to the spectrum.

I'd add to everything said above that there's something interesting about parts that are "the same" but also "different"

I think modesty is definitely a learned behaviour. I bet if you talked to your parents you'd find as a toddler you got good at taking clothes off long before you got good at putting them on and people tolerate todlers not wearing clothes. As we get older we get told to stay covered up.
There are also fashions about such things. Check out the bathing machine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathing_machine), designed to enable you to get into the water without showing those on the beech your bathing costume. The victorians were certainly prudes. Then contrast that with hippie culture and notices that things have started to go back towards prudish again. Things also vary from place to place. From time to time American women on TV have a "wardrobe accident", i.e. a their bra shows a little more than it is supposed to and there is a huge sensation and yet in much of Europe their are women topless on the beach and no-one cares.

True I've never heard of bathing machines before. Society and its norms are always changing. I feel like we are in a time where we are taught modesty and to hide ourselves, but it's slowly changing to more openness again; something our parents do not understand. But that along with other factors have me so self conscious of myself. It's definitely learned though. As young kids everyone just lives and runs free but then once school starts and we get older, parents limit it. Doesn't help much especially when curiosity is so natural and now it's just another thing that is suppressed.
Good point with the whole TV and movies thing w women. In my school girls get sent home if their shorts are too short or if shirts have holes in them etc. (this is also misogyny and other factors involved) but the bottom line is we value modesty even over getting an education. Sad really :/

when i was younger i had basic questions like does height impact dick size, do twins look the same down there. Those got answered and also details i never would've thought to ask for like shower vs grower and foreskin coverage
So now that i got those answers i'm not curious except i guess if i have the hots for some guy

It's a symbol of masculinity and we want to know if we measure up, and gauge our chances of finding a partner. Also it's a part of us that we're drilled to believe we should never show to anyone else, so we're naturally curious.

Most of us live in societies where we derive self worth based on how we are compared to others, so I think it's normal to want to apply this need for comparison in every aspect of our lives
