The key is persistence here, many people quit once they realize they didn't go viral in their first two weeks, keep making videos with some consistency (don't exaggerate, one video a day will probably not be good) and you'll see a fan base growing.

kind like david said, have a schedule for your videos and have a purpose for them, are you going to do commentary or gaming news or just gaming videos, I dont watch many youtubers but a few I watch have schedules like they release a video every monday, wednesday and friday and they do gaming news or gaming videos with commentary, or others release every day and play games and interact with their audience with live streams etc... all you can do is continue posting videos and soon you will keep inching forward in subscribers and then you will sky rocket (maybe).

Getting a successful youtube career going can take years and a lot of hard work. The trick is to find videos that people enjoy watching! If you find people that like the content you post then most likely more out there will. It takes time and effort. :)

I think it's the kind of content more than the quality of content tbh. I'm definitely not a "youtuber" or whatever. But I did absolutely nothing to get 70 subscribers, and there was definitely a trend depending on what videos were more in demand. True, I use a x20 digital zoom with 1080p HD video capture so I'm already a step above many other youtubers who post the same content, but it had way more to do with demand rather than quality or popularity tbh. Quality certainly gets me some very kind comments when I share my videos on forums and what not, though.

Try to keep to an upload shedule
Promote yourself, but dont troll
Dont try to be sombody else
Make sure your content isnt slow or boring
You dont need amazing equiptment, just make sure you can be seen and heard
Start off nice and simple, and grow with time
Make something somebody wants to see, and leave them wanting more

Make shur that the audio is good. Make shir that it is good quality video. Try to edit in some cool effects. And the most important part is. Be yourself

My best advise is to make videos because you love making videos. Let the subscribers worry about themselves because there is pretty much nothing you can do about that. Like a lot of other people have said make quality videos which is pretty crucial starting out because you want people to see that you have the potential to make good content and a schedule can help although that might be something to do later on. Just try to get as many videos out as you can without jeopardizing their quality.

Quality over quantity here. I have seen small youtubers post a video almost every hour, and gain no subscribers because the videos weren't good. Meanwhile, I have seen small youtubers post a video a week, with good quality, and skyrocket in subscribers.

Put a flier up in your school all over the walls to advertise and offer a handjob as a thankyou gift for subscribing
LOL I feel too funny, I don't know, but something public does sound a good idea I guess...

Find something that speaks to you or your heart. Do makeup tutorials. Do a cooking thing. Find fun things to do on your videos. Do impressions.
You know? Just sit around and record yourself playing video games..
All of these ideas have gotten plenty of subscribers.
