How to ask a friend to go to prom?

I've never asked anyone to a dance before. I've always just gone with friends in the past, but after years of having a crush on a good friend of mine (and him hinting that the feeling might be mutual) I've found myself wanting to actually ask someone to go with me! I just don't know how to approach him about it. I'm worried that I'll ask and have been wrong about him liking me and that it'll ruin our friendship (or at least make it awkward!!) What do I do?????? :confused:

says. U will know then if he has
asked someone or not and if not
then make a move.

That's a good idea. You don't even need to almost do it
Privately. Could be a group convo about who's going with who. And
Just listen to what people say, and who he looks at when that obvious awkward time arrives when everyone who has a date as said who they are going with

If the 2 of you are looking at each other I'd say it's a pretty good bet he's on, and the doors open, go from there.

Thank you for the advice, this was the perfect and least stressful way to ask!! :D It turned out he was going to a different school's prom with a different girl. It was kind of disappointing to me at first (I did NOT cry and am very proud of that) but it sounds like he already had plans to go with a friend (and that they aren't dating!!!!!!). We're going to get ice cream together after a school event next weekend, so that worked out! :lol:
