It used to be thought that wet dreams happenned because everything was full and our bodies needed to get rid of some cum to make room for more but there are enough exceptions to that in people's experience that it can't be that simple, i.e. some people have a wet dream despite having masturbated fairly recently and others can wait several weeks without ejaculating and still not get one. For all that, in general, the more you masturbate the less likely you are to get a wet dream.

Also, don't worry about it. Sex-ed can sometimes leave you with the impression that wet dreams are some kind of development milestone whereas starting to ejaculate is really the development milestone and whether that happens masturbating or in a wet dream doesn't really matter - you can still tick that one off.

For sex ed, I remember we had a class in early 6th grade and I'd have to agree with you. It made me think I should expect to start this whole puberty thing by first seeing hairs and then start wetting my bed at night. Not true.

For me, I've only had 2 wet dreams in my life and they both happened before my first "conscious" orgasm and cum squirt from figuring out how to masturbate. I wank every day, and haven't had a wet dream since.

I am 18 and have never had a wet dream ever either. I started masturbating before I could cum and regularly ever since or have had sex. That is the reason I am sure. If you can lay off masturbating for like a month I would think that you would experience one.
